Hello all Just a bit of advice needed. Over the weekend i have lost my Keys to my Lupo and along with them the key fob for the Toad Alarm! I have a spare key so am able to get in but as soon as i do the Sirens start!!! I do have a spare key fob but this is not programmed. I called a Garage yest to see if they could just program the key fob and because i have no pin code for the alarm they said they can not do. The only thing he said he could do was just to take out the alarm and i would not be able to use the alarm again? He would also charge me £80 fot the trouble! Does this sound correct? Thought it would just be a case of disconnecting the alarm from the battery???? Had a quick look and i cant even see where the alarm is or how its connected! Shall i just ask the local scallywags to do it for me! lol Any advice would be really appreciated as i need to drive my loop! Thanks Mikey

Youve got it in one! Direct Line will only give the named driver a NCB if the named driver insures with them! No other ins Co will accept this a NCB

Hello This may work in the short term but not a good idea in the long run. Doing it this way you will not build up your own NCB,so when you do want to start a policy in your own name it will be like starting again! Also if your Dad hasnt got any spare NCB to use on this car it will not be any cheaper at all. As the policy will be rated on the youngest aged driver which is yourself! And he will not want to take off his NCB off his car to use on yours. So just one more point - If your dad does use his NCB and you do find it cheaper you have to tell them ur dad was the main use,otherwise again this will be rated on ur age. This itself will cause a problem as if u do tell them u wasnt the main user u wouldnt be entitled to travel to wrk,school,college etc. So if u was to have an accident say at 8.00am in the morning it would look a bit dodgy and the Ins Co would prob not pay out as you have lied to them. So all in all i think the best advice i can give is to start policy in your name, drive like miss daisy for a year! and happy days for your next years insurance should come down! When i said that this button was hidden i meant that it was prob hidden from me when i was looking at the car to buy ? ? ? As he has made a hole in one of the plugs so that this switch could be put through ? ? ?

Hello all Can anyone tell me what the hell is the little red button ive found hidden away is all about? ? I brought Jens old green Lupo "Garthie" from someone fron the VW garage around 4 weeks ago. Its been quite modded up with Centre Twin Exhaust fitted etc. Its only a 1 Litre and i cant belive how nippy it is. It leaves most cars standing (within reason) until they catch me up! Its faster 0 - 60 then my previous 1.4 Pug 206. Is this normal? Is this because of the exhaust? Or has he been messing around with the engine? Dont know much about Mods to the engine so wouldnt really know what to look for. Nothing looks different under the bonnet etc. Now this red button ive found. Just in the middle on the centre console is 5 plugs which you can pull out and mess with the electrics im guessing? I noticed today that one of them had a man made hole in the middle? Thought this was weird so il pulled it off and nothing was there? I then pulled the next one off and there is was hanging there. A red button attached to 2 wires? Thats what the hole was for and why had the chap pulled it back through and hidden it? So i thought here goes! Hung on tightly to the steering wheel closed my eyes and pressed it ! The electrics seemed to fade as the stereo sort of stutterd and then i lost power? I stopped at the lights and pressed it again? The same thing happend with the stereo and i heard the exhaust sort of blow then a little smoke ? ? Is this a boost thing or what? Didnt want to try it again whilst accelerating just in case? Well there you go. Sorry if im being thick and its just a simple switch of some kind. Thanks for taking the time out to read my post. All your thought are very much welcome. Many thanks Mike

Thanks alot. Its been changed once in 2005 and that was around 70,000 miles so prob will be due another soon? Youve got me thinking now about my Lupo. Its on around 58,000 and hasnt had it changed yet. Also its had a Twin exhaust fitted and that tarting blowing! Hope i dont have to have all that replaced. Taking it to Kwik Fit tomorrow. I keep meaning to put pics on here of it but most of you already know it. Its Jens old Green Lupo. Thanks again Mike

Hello I thought id put this in this forum as well as the Arosa forum as not had much response. Your help would be much appreciated. I think the main question is would you buy this car thats a 1998 with 103,000 miles on the clock bearing in mind it will have to last her for at least 3 years? I own a Lupo and my girlfriend either wants a Lupo or an Arosa. We have seen an Arosa AutoTrader advertised for £800. It is a 1998 1.4 MPI with 103,000! Miles. Spoke to the person yesterday and asked about the high mileage and was advised that they are the second owners of the car. They bought the car off a Garage in 2001 by which time the car had only done 11,000 miles and was used as a test drive vehicle??? To me this started the alarm bells as it didnt add up? So in 5 years they had done 92,000 miles? My thoughts are that the car must have done more then 11,000 when with the garage and was it used as a courtesy car etc?????? I have just recently bought a 1999 Lupo that has been modified with only 54,000 miles for £1800 (Garthie for anyone that knows Jens old car) Please could you let me know your thoughts on the mileage and price etc. Many thanks Mike

I understand it is possible to rack up the mileage but how many more miles could it be expected to do without any major problems? Its a 1998 with 103,000 miles now so would this do another 50,000 miles without probs?

Thats good news! Really like the car and seems to be in excellent condition. Anyone think a roof spoiler would look ok. Dont want to over do a car that already is sorted.
