  1. Thats the one! It is a manual as well, didn't think the dealers would have been able to get one without the model no.
  2. Now I know this might be a bit scandalous, but I am looking for one of the above, I don't speak any german at all and have had (an admittedly quick) look on german ebay, I want to get the mirrors matched up and prefer to see what is behind me, the small mirror just doesn't do it for me, so I think I am down to 2 options, 1. Learn some German, or find someone who knows it or the part number for getting one from the UK stealers 2. Fit MK V golf mirrors with the built in indicator repeaters (which I am a big fan of anyway) so questions are Does anyone have the answer to no. 1 and does anyone know how hard it is to do no. 2, I know someone on here has done this but for the life of me I can't remember who, I know it was a big project but apart from that I'm coming up empty. I would love to see some photos of no. 2 as I know the mirrors are larger, but want to make sure they don't end up like Dumbo ears!
  3. I'm about 6' (missus says 5' 11" but she is talking ****) and occasionally my trousers rubbed on the wheel, but since she got her own car (1.9TDi Sportline Golf MK V) I have the seat set just right and it doesn't happen anymore. On the upside I do get to wear jeans and stuff every day so no shiny trousers for me!
  4. I'm such a simple git, why didn't I think of that, or searching first. NO! BAD NEWBIE! SIT.... STAY STAAAAAAYYYY.........
  5. I'm wondering will this fit my loop? I'm looking to fit front fogs on the e model and want to keep it tidy, I haven't seen any centre console switches that I would like If not I think I wouldn't mind building a plate to fit where the heated screen control is but would need some "secsay" switches and some guards to pull it off! Kind of like the control panels in plane or helicopter, cant toggle them by accident etc. wire U-shaped guards at each side, not the mad looking ones with the big red flip up cover that goes over the missile controls (hmmm, now there's a thought, might get rid of a few of those chavvy corsas and their **** lights while I'm at it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" /> ) Cheers Dan (with a plan!) edit for a broken URL! more edit for stupid speelong!
  6. Don't know if was any good yet style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> but it was 6.99 or 7.99 I just have a halfords handy and got paid today, noticed it was a bit low earlier last week and made a note of it as something to do when I got paid. On another bit I had a sh*t day with the remote central locking that some cowboys put in for my missus when we were both a bit naieve about the car and their reputability, ended up with the car not locking properly at all, me having to strip the doors in my works car park and spend my lunch hour putting them back together without any proper tools and people annoying me constantly.... Once I get back from 'merica I will be fitting a new alarm with remote start, central locking and a boot popper so I can get my boot smoothed, was thinking on getting an arosa bootlid and doing the painting etc myself, gives me an excuse to buy new tools!
  7. Just found this on another forum, makes use of the dodgy VW jack I thought it was very clever and if I had a welder I would be getting started on this! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  8. Its labelled as LHM PLUS (green mineral oil the shop boyo called it) in a black and green own brand container, I didnt spot it at first, I was looking for some branded stuff but I would rather have it above the minimum rather than waiting for branded stuff and screwing up the steering.
  9. According to the halfords lookup table it needs LHM fluid, which apparently is the same as the brake fluid in a Citroen Xantia! I've just topped mine up as it was a bit low, if it makes my car die I know what the boyo in halfords looks like and I will go looking for him!
  10. Hiya (again) just wondering do the 's' models and higher come with color matched door handles? Mine has the standard black ones and they annoy me a bit as the rest of the car is starting to look a bit tidier. If I could get color-matched handles I would probably de-lock it as well as I have remote central locking (3rd party alarm fitted) ORRRR..... is it a case of getting them resprayed?
  11. No because it will hit the subframe still. So it will need bent in a similar way, it was more the top end that I was worried about, my motto is; If force isn't working you aren't using enough!
  12. Maybe another stupid question from a newbie nut I assume that as this fits both the GTI and the sport (them having different engine capacities) that it will be a straight fit onto my 1.4e? Cheers Dan
  13. Aye, I'm not sure whether to go for the Induction or coillies first, any recommendations on a good set? Finally got all the ***** glue off today, plenty of methylated spirits as I didn't want to put thinners near the paint and possibly ruin it, I didn't realise it had a slight metallic element to it til I got up close, I've got some time off tomorrow and will give it a good wash and polish to clear off all the crap that gathers between the adhesive strips, I'm not going to put photos up til I get that done and I like the look of it. have to say I'm glad that I took the strips off as I found a small rust spot on the edge of the door that I have no idea on how it got there, it was under the strip on the drivers side. Must have taken me about 4 hrs total using hot water to get the black crap off and then about another hour to clean the adhesive once I figured out that meths lifted it if I just took my time : style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The following are bad things to use Strimmer wire instead of floss, I've got a couple of small grooves where it has sort of melted the paint, its only on the back quarter so I'm not too concerned. WD-40 to remove the adhesive, just seemed to piss it off and make the side of my car oily White spirits does sweet F.A on the adhesive Neither does petrol. Slightly off boiling water worked wonders and I just hoked them off with a bit of ignorance on the doors and a wee bit more care on the back panels. Ah well, more work tomorrow and then I get to wash and polish it and see what it really looks like! Thanks for all the advice so far, I expect that I will be torturing all of you with stupid questions. By the way, Black in a Flash from halfrauds works wonders on the black trim/dashboard and on wheels, don't bother polishing it off on the wheels or exterior trim and it looks the biz. P.S. any club stickers available? should I pm blackrat or just not bother?
  14. Looks like its new hubs for me then! I want to keep the veedub rims as I think they look the business and are still subtle enough. Failing that I think I will have to take a visit to our local alloy shop. 'Nother few months for that though so plenty of time to do research etc.
  15. Are they not, I haven't even had the covers off to see what stud settings they are, ah well, back to the drawing board.... Would the golf hubs fit on? That might be the solution to a few probs!
  16. Finally got started on modding my Lupo, started off with taking the bump strips off, I only managed to get 1 side done as it started pissing with rain and I don't like getting wet. From reading the other posts about doing this people say use thinners to remove the gunk, what I want to know is, are they talking about cellulose thinners or something else? Don't want to screw up the paint on my motor! My other plans for the car are to fit a BMC induction kit, get the 16" alloys off my missus' MK V Golf TDI Sportline, get a set of coilies fitted for about a 40mm drop and fit a bigger ARB, I want to get a drivers side mirror from ebay.de so that the mirrors aren't a bit Beadle , I prefer having the wider mirror so I can see whats behind me, so if anyone has one kicking about I would be most appreciative of a price! I'm also looking to fit bigger discs on the front and am toying with the idea of replacing the 1.4e hubs with something off a Polo or a sport, or just spending the cash on a set from Tarox, although I haven't phoned them yet to get an idea of a price. Anything that isn't cheap or free though will have to wait til I get back from the states in July though. :-( Any other ideas would be appreciated!
  17. Sorry to be such a post whore and bring up stuff from way back yonder but this post had literally made my life a lot easier! Just need to figure out now if Golf hubs would fit and then I would be laughing as far as my 280+mm brake upgrade goes. If I have to change the hubs on my 1.4e I may as well go all the way!
  18. So you say I should get sports hubs and work from there? Or can I get the new calipers to fit the existing carriers? I'm sorry for asking what I think are stupid questions but this is going to be my first project on the loop and on a car altogether!
  19. Excellent, that is good/bad news, at least now I know what I am dealing with! Just need to find how to change the hubs (after getting a new set of course!)
  20. When I got mine done at my mechanics, it cost me £90 and that came from VW, I cant remember if that was fitted or not but the car was getting its 40,000 mile service
  21. hiya, just wondering what the score is on 280mm brakes on a 1.4e model loop? Is it easy or do you need additional parts? Just a side-note, I had a new exhaust fitted not so long ago and the exhaust manifold is the 16V style, how can I tell what engine I really have in the car, the dealer my wife bought it off has been known to import cars from the Republic of Ireland (where I am now living) and these are usually different from the UK models. Is it just a matter of comparing engine codes, and if so where can I find them (on the engine presumably) on my engine cover it says 1.4MPI, does that mean anything in particular. Cheers
  22. I'm assuming you mean "delocking" and that you have remote central locking in place already. If so you are looking for this ---> thread
  23. Hi there, just thought I would say hello as this is my first post here.... and here comes the inevitable newbie question. I've got an '02 Lupo 1.4e with manual windows and the passenger side window is fubarred, it got stuck halfway down and my wife managed to snap the cable that pulls the window up and down. I think it got stuck in some grime or one of the window stickers came off and gummed up the seal and stuck the window. I want to put in leccy windows and dont mind having a grommet covering where the old winder handle used to be as I will be driving the car til it dies. I would like to put the controls on the centre console if possible and if I go with it, will be fabricating a proper panel with toggle switches for the rear window heater and for the fogs that i will be fitting (any seller recommendations?) and momentary switches for the windows. Probably some steel switches with switch guards on them. Does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket window kits to fit my car. Or can someone tell me the part number(s) of the bits that I need, i think the winder mechanism itself is sound but the cable is well busted. I'm also going to go for 280mm discs at the front and am toying with a set for the rear but I dont think that I will get that much benefit from them as it is such a light backend. Thats another while off but I need to get the window sorted its really bugging me.
