  1. I'll check both of these out. Don't mind paying a bit for a good jack. Those bottle jacks any good?
  2. Car is driving sweet again. I have changed the fuel filter and ran it with some BG244K for about 20 miles. No hiccups. Hope it still runs fine after this tank is empty.
  3. Mine is terrible. It doesn't lift the car high enough to get my axle stands underneath.
  4. Iv'e seen people block them with pieces of rubber pipe. They squeeze it between the grill. I'm guessing it won't matter much if you block the intercooler aswell? I am very interested if you do carry anything out. I might look into it myself. My journey is little more than 8 miles to work, just about reaches temp before I arrive lol. God only knows in the winter. I wonder if there is anything which will pre warm my oil a hour or so before my journey. Could wrap a heated blanket around my oilpan haha.
  5. Well I didn't find the plate to blank my EGR and I came across a jubilee type clip which I couldn't remove for the MAF. Why my toolbox has no pliars is ridiculous! I ordered some BG244k to see if that helps. I'll keep you posted on that one. Should be arriving today. I did have a look at the EGR too, have any of you removed one from the 1.4Tdi? The bolts are in hard to reach places. I have no time to do it this week so I could do with some research on my dinner breaks. Regarding the EGR, I think I remember one or two accounts of blown cylinder heads which were blamed on blanked EGR's or deleted EGR's. Personally I can only see benefits except increased fuel consumption due to the engine heating slower than usual. But after it's warmed up fuel economy increases.
  6. I'll be checking my MAF in a few hours and blanking my EGR if I can find the plate I bought a while ago. OIl and coolant are spot on. I noticed it hesitate the other day as I accelerated onto the motorway. Engine was quite cold and stuttered for a split second around 3k RPM (like it missed misfired but just once). I usually take it easy until its warmed up so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Iv'e done alot of searching since I posted this and i'm beginning to think its MAF, EGR or injector related. I thought about the glow plugs, but don't they only work when you turn the ignition? or do they stay hot until the engine is ar 90 degrees or something?
  7. I have noticed today when I put my foot down my turbo is kicking in more slower than usual, and maybe a bit later aswell. Just after 2k. I am due a service. Any easy vacuum leak tests. Surely I should have a fault code...
  8. Iv'e just had a look. The drivers side lower ball joint isn't even bolted in. It looks like the bolt has come out or some kind of plate that holds it in (By comparing it to the other side). I did go over a speed bump pretty hard yesterday which may have caused it to shear off the lower control arm. I am thinking of getting some Coilovers in the next few weeks. Would it be a poor idea to wait until i'm getting the coilovers fitted until I get this sorted?
  9. I'll get underneath today. My droplinks were replaced less than one month ago. Maybe they cocked it up. If it is the droplinks do I have the right to ask them to repair it for free?
  10. This problem has only started today. Whenever I turn sharply I hear quite a loud bang noise. I can feel it under the footwell too! Anyone have any clues before I go to the garage? Also I have an Arosa 1.0 petrol. Would any parts be of use from that?
  11. I'm running a remap at the moment, and wondering if a cold air feed would increase power? I understand in theory it should increase power, but do they really work? Particularly on remapped diesels?
  12. Just thought, i'd give a little update. Still really happy with my remap. I have found it picks up so much better lower down the revs, even before the turbo has kicked in. I can easily accelerate from 20mph on a flat surface in fourth gear. I now find myself sitting at 30mph in 5th gear too. Probably not amazing for the engine but it doesnt sound like it is struggling at all. I recently filled the tank with regular shell fuel and achieved 450 miles before I bottled it. This consisted of my daily journey to work which is only 15 minutes away at about 8 miles. And about 4 miles on the motorway. Not much else other than the odd trip here and there. This was taking it very easy most of the time apart from the last quarter of a tank where I would give it a bit of a hammering on the motorway. I think I could get 470 miles quite easily doing my daily trip without the heavy foot. Much, much more if I did longer journeys. Clutch is still fine, and has never been changed in 116,000 miles MOT flew through emissions. Sadly failed on the front droplinks. Hope this helps!
  13. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=halfords+engine+oil&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1#refinementURL=http%3A//www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd%3FcatalogId%3D10151%26storeId%3D10001%26langId%3D-1%26action%3Dlistrefine%26categoryId%3D-1%26qcon%3Dfh_location%3D%252F%252Fcatalog_10151%252Fen_GB%252F%2524s%253Dhalfords%255Cu0020engine%255Cu0020oil%26fh_view_size%3D10%26channel%3Ddesktop%26fh_sort_by%3Dattr_36797a80%7CASC%26fh_start_index%3D10%26tabNo%3D1%26reqType%3DproductsAjax Might be of some use to you, guys. Unfortunately I need 505.01. Not sure what you SDI and petrol enginesd need.
  14. I can't find the airbox. Sorry for being a complete noob. I'm guessing it's to the left of the engine at the top but I don't see how i'm supposed to get access to the filter
  15. I was looking for some tins of anthracite paint for ages but could never find any for a good price. I ordered some from ebay but they have sent me 'technik anthracite' I'm really confused. After digging a bit it seems the colour code of technik grey and this technik anthracite grey are the same. If anyone knows if they are the same i'd greatly appreciate it.
  16. Might have damaged a sensor by getting it wet. Maybe the wires from the sensor you replaced are rotted or something.
  17. Yeah I know for sure my temperature sensor is buggered, but also think my thermostat is aswell. It opens at 81 degrees celcius for sure, cools to about 78 degrees and the repeats the process. The other thermostats I can see online open up at 87 degrees. But that still seems too low. I want one that opens at about 92 degrees.
  18. I found some interesting information: http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_223.pdf Looking at the temperature sensor on page 54: "The coolant temperature sender is located on the coolant connection of the cylinder head. It informs the engine control unit about the actual coolant temperature." "The engine control unit uses the coolant temperature as a compensating value for computing the injection quantity." "If the signal fails, the engine control unit uses the signal from the fuel temperature sender as a default value." This sounds interesting, do I read correctly that if the temperature sensor isn't working, it makes a guess to the temperature using the fuel temperature?
  19. Haha, no problem, mate. I googled the part number of that other thing I pulled out. Turns out its just a flange plug to block off a hole :/ Cheers for the advice, mate. I reckon i should be able to get it done myself. It will be a little fiddle to get out, though.
  20. Here is what I puled from the 1.0 petrol <iframe src="//instagram.com/p/boRG__FU2S/embed/" width="612" height="710" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
  21. I'll get on it. I have a 1.0 arosa i'm breaking so i'm experimenting on that. I removed the temp sensor (which was exactly where you said it should be on the 1.0 lupo) and had a alot of coolant lol. It's this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Water-Coolant-Temperature-Gauge-Sensor-059919501A-Temp-Sender-Clip-O-ring-/171011609482?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AArosa&hash=item27d116138a But I removed another sensor aswell which looked like this: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/223440310/p/home I located the temperature sensor on the 1.4 tdi, it is on the right hand side of the engine towards the back. A bit harder to get to.
  22. Iv'e just had a look now, there's two wires close to each other. I think i'l just the buy the sensor and improvise from there. Also, Iv'e had a look for a new sensor. It seems some are two pin and some are four pin. Is there any way to find out which is mine without removing it?
