  1. Cool, must be great having a MK1 GTi too, and in the best colour Lhasa Green, lovely.
  2. There is no comparison between the performance aspects of the Lupo GTi and Polo 16Vsport. My wife has the Polo and the Lupo is miles more fun and better to drive. Polo is sluggish, especiallly if you put the aircon on. Polo obviosly has more room for luggage and passengers, but I'm sure you'd be better offf with a Lupo 16V Sport. If you've driven a Lupo GTi the Polo will be a massive disappointment, if you really want the Polo Sport get a diesel one as the extra torque will make up for the ridiculous weight. Why can't VW keep their cars smaller and lighter???
  3. Had a cracking Lupo experience last Friday. Heading back from Wales was passed by a silver Lupo TDi sport 03 reg. The guy waved as he sailed past me in my GTi so I caught up and we travelled in convoy all the way from Newport to Gloucester where I was turning off doing between `80-100` all the way. I think the guy in the V6 4motion Golf we passed was a bit miffed though!!! Made me think about the merits of the GTi when the TDi is just as fast on the motorway and probably still does over 50 MPG but then the GTi just looks so damn good I love it to bits!!
  4. Yeah I'd class myself as a dub nut, family have owned about 15 in total and I had a 1.4 litre Lupo E before my GTi. Always waved at other Loop drivers on the road, reckon only about 20% waved back though. New Beetle owners are best for flashing/waving at each other whilst out and about on the roads. I think it's nice ,cheers up your journey!!
  5. Andy, I'm well pleased for you mate. Quite often down in Wales visiting parents/friends, I'll look out for you. Enjoy it, bet the anticipation is killing you!!!!
  6. Well done getting yourself a free engine. Iwas feeling well guilty after recommending buying a Lupo to you in the first place!! Are you seriously considering getting a Corrado?? VR6 ones are lovely but they've nearly all done loads of miles now. Anyway hope you get Loopy back soon
  7. Black one sounds nice, touch pricey but if it's well looked after and the spec you want it's prob woth it. Local dealer has 53 reg silver one with 10000 miles for £10995 but without leather or air con (or parking sensors!!!). Silver ones with red/black cloth seats are rare. I looked at a few silver one's and eventually got one with v.low mileage but had to have black/grey seats. With leather seats I think you will probably slide around more in the corners but the heating will be nice, especially now!!
  8. God this sounds like a nightmare Fran! Any chance of VW offering a goodwill payment towards the repairs?? Hope it gets fixed soon, ask them if they'll put in a GTi 6speed for no extra charge he he!
  9. I had this, it's a problem with the rear calipers. My dealer fitted some "balancer weights" which has made it completely disappear, aparently it's a recognised problem with some GTi's ,although I know of other cars which do it too. Take it to a dealer, mine was fixed under warranty.
  10. Yup, I'm from Swansea originally, have now moved to Gloucester. Seem to be loads more Lupo's around Swansea than here though so there must be some more Welshies out there!!
  11. damn that's low, hoovering up the tarmac. Hope you don't encounter any speed bumps. Nice one!!
