  1. A fresh sump of 0w/30 and back up to 92.84 mpg on the last tank
  2. Last tank was a slightly disappointing 90.63 mpg
  3. Last tank. 92.17 mpg Interesting update on the 2 original Bridgestone B381 tyres I still have on the rear of my 3L. Went to put some more air in them for my trip this weekend and found both to have gone down to about 20psi. Looks like they are at the end of their life. Tyre recommendations? I'm going to go for a pair of Conti Eco 3 unless there's any other ideas?
  4. Off to Ipswich this weekend so will put some more air in the tyres and see what happens re mpg. Third brake light is at top of rear screen and battery is in the boot.
  5. Hi Derv. My 3L is silver. It's one of the early cars with the light grey interior. It was bought new from Belgium by an English couple. It's been very well serviced and I've put a new sump of 0W/30 in it since I've had it. Can't tell you what PSI/Bar I run the tyres at. Whatever is recommended on the inside of the fuel cap. The first owner thoughtfully wrote them down and stuck them on a label in the little compartment infront of the gearstick. 2.4L/100km is pretty amazing. I think I may go a little insane sticking to 90km/h on the motorways though. I love the freewheel, a slight dab on the brakes brings in the engine braking and a slight dab on the throttle 'de-couples' the gears. Just like the latest version of the Porsche Boxster (with the optional auto gearbox)!
  6. Hi John90 Fuel computer is pretty accurate and staying at 3.0 ltrs/100km I still have the original Bridgestone tyres on the rear but non-eco tyres on the front. I'll change them for Eco tyres when the wear out, which may be some time. You may as well drive it slowly and get the benefit of what it's designed to do. I never even bothered to take if out of eco mode! 70520km to 71545km = 31.27 ltrs used = 3.05 ltrs/100km = 92.6 mpg 71545km to 72515km used 28.97 ltrs = 2.99 ltr/100km = 94.6 mpg 72515km to 73550 used 30.39 ltrs = 2.94 ltr/100km = 96.2 mpg 73550km to 74561km used 30.74 ltrs = 3.04 ltr/100km = 92.92 mpg Lots more short journeys on the last tank with very little motorway driving.
  7. 70520km to 71545km = 31.27 ltrs used = 3.05 ltrs/100km = 92.6 mpg 71545km to 72515km used 28.97 ltrs = 2.99 ltr/100km = 94.6 mpg 72515km to 73550 used 30.39 ltrs = 2.94 ltr/100km = 96.2 mpg

  9. It does require an extremely 'relaxed' driving style. Accelertation is not something you're looking to achieve but I guess the 3L is all about economy.
  10. That's the first tank of diesel done and the stats are in.. 70520km to 71545km = 31.27 ltrs used = 3.05 ltrs/100km = 92.6 mpg
  11. Right, that's the 1.4 TDI sold, full steam ahead with the 3L! Our three year old says it's a very cool car but he does think all cars I buy are cool.
  12. Hold on! A 3L has an electro-mechanical power steering system if it was fitted as an option.
  13. Hi Silver! Yep that's my TDI. Near Thame. Hopefully got a chap coming to see it Saturday afternoon. I've had a reply from the DVLA already about the 3L being listed as an S on the V5 and that should be easy to sort out. The main difference about the 1.2 Tdi & 1.4 engine is that the 1.2 has an alloy block whereas the 1.4 is iron. The 3L seems very genuine. Bought and collected new from Brussels by the first English owner in 2001. Transferred to his wife in 2011. Serviced by a VW dealer for all but the last service. I'll stick the mpg that I get from each tank on here when I start driving it.
  14. I bought the one that was advertised on Autotrader and picked it up yesterday. The 'wife' was thrilled to see two Lupo's on the drive. She was slightly confused actually. My 1.4 TDI is now on Autotrader if anyone fancies a really nice TDI. I'm on a bit of a car downsizing movement at the moment having been very happy driving the TDI. My poor BMW E39 530d Touring has been sitting outside the house pretty much unused for the last month. The Lupo really is a car that you can do miles in. It is much louder than the E39 but that's to be expected. First impressions on the 3L, softer ride than the 1.4 TDI but not much. All feels very high tech and a little exclusive. Driving it home from the dealer in Chesham which is 25 miles from where I live the average fuel reading was 2.8 litres/100km. Which is 101 mpg, nice. Anoyingly the V5 has it down as a Lupo S although I've email DVLA today to see how I can get that changed. Any advice welcome.
