  1. The new owner is over the moon. ^^ incase you want to see where she is now.
  2. If your on about these, then yeah
  3. Okily dokily, little update; I'm hoping to get this done within a few months, just need to find some labour funds. Have a cookie if you can guess what i'm planning.
  4. So jealous of those BBS, i'd love a set for the old workhorse.
  5. Got the loom from kufatec originally but ripped it out my silver one to fit to the diesel.
  6. Yup, wired from the switch to to the tray already. Piece of cake to install, hardest part was changing the drivers side bulb after installing everything as the whole air filter assembly is in the way and needs removed. Next time I've got the dash apart I'll grab some pictures, there's a rattle coming from somewhere that's doing my head in so it will be coming apart again when it's not raining.
  7. On another note, can you tell what i've just got round to fitting? While i was at it today i sorted out my slight heat shield rattle
  8. Although the fusebox didn't need to be removed, it was only 2 screws and it made it easier for my sausage fingers to get stuff where it needed to be. Regarding the cluster mod, you will need to expose the circuit board which involves taking off the needles, LCD's and a hand full of other things. I would advise getting a no-clean flux pen, tweezers and some fine solder to help things along. The LED's i used were from RS components. I'd not like to recommend which ones to buy because i would still like to try some of the other ones to get the brightness/colour just right. This is what they look like
  9. A long days retrofitting. Successfully wired in OEM functioning fogs (and if i do say so myself, i've done a bloody good job with the cable routing) with brand spanking hardware straight from the Volkswagen parts department - not surprisingly, it wasn't cheap for a handful of clips and whatnot. While everything was apart i fitted 'One touch indicators' which makes driving so much more pleasurable by quite a surprising amount. So far, the mod list consists of: Full black interior swap GTI handbrake cover Black headlining GTI roof bits GTI lower door cards Powerflex front and rear bushes Sport rear beam with disc brakes GTI roof spoiler Wind deflectors De-chromed rear badge New mudflaps Front fogs One touch indicators White cluster LED's Gloss black heater vent surrounds + clock shroud Under dash cup holder KW Inox coilovers Whiteline rear ARB Pioneer headunit EGR delete K&N filter 5th Gear mod Remap Debadged front grille Rear wiper delete HID's LED's all around 15" OEM Ibiza sport alloys Clear side repeaters Polo 9N stubby mast and base Once again i'm sure ill have forgot something but theres more planned. Next up i'm thinking about: Cruise control Rear spacers HID projector retrofit Double din headunit Rear speakers Programmable wiper relay Arch rolling Sport centre exit exhaust Heated electric mirrors A good old detail when the winter is over. Thats all for now but ill try to keep on top of this thread unlike my others.
  10. Aaaand this happened.. Unfortunately they aren't quite as bright as i'd like so i'll look into upping the voltage somehow. Trying to find decent PLCC-2 sideview LED's is surprisingly hard but hey ho. The first set of LED's i bought wanted more voltage than there was so they came out a tad yellow, the second set are nice and white, just not as bright as i'd like.
  11. A couple of shots of the inside, gloss black heater surrounds and clock shrouds were a nice addition, along with the GTI lower door cards 8 Ball shifter Once again, apologies for the crappy iphone pics.
  12. Hello. After my other thread drastically veering off topic i've decided to create a proper 'Member's cars' thread. So here is my Spanish armada: My first love, first car and a massive regret when she's sold. I'll not go into much detail here but my previous thread, you'll find HERE My second purchase, so much potential but due to circumstantial changes and a run of bad luck, now just a parts donor. So much effort went in to fixing this only for a chocolate gearbox to ruin everything. Brought back from the dead for a mere 5 months or so, only to live on in spirit and donor parts for No.4, somewhere down the page. The current weekend toy Pretty much how she looks now ^ A few tweaks since but you get the gist And the day i picked her up What i've done so far: Cruise control retrofitted Gearbox oil change + Magnetic plug Oil change + Magnetic plug Newsouth power gasket Avon ZZ5's all around New centre caps 20mm Rear spacers Miltek turbo back with hi-flow sports cat Remap by John at Bigfish tuning Front lower strut brace - now removed LCR splitter Forge TIP Forge throttle body hose Forge 008 DV BMC Twin cone filter Mats from Awesome GTI Seat sport front strut brace Black coolant cap Black washer bottle cap LED bulbs inside and out White H3 fogs OEM Xenon headlights De-chromed front end Polo 9N ariel base and mast Focal PS-165 components Alpine 135-BT headunit Turbosmart boost gauge Twin gauge pod I'm sure theres more but i cant remember And the latest addition: How i got her ^ Work started straight away, stripping and swapping from my little silver baby. Swapped out the light interior for my nice clean black one, with bits kindly donated from either Arosa's And then these came. And how she sits today: You'll have to excuse the bad white balance, quick snaps post shift never come out the greatest. Ill try to get the DSLR out at some point.
  13. Ok then. Unfortunately circumstances have changed and the world has decided to S**t on me. Silver has now been stripped and put back to standard (mostly) - She will be up for sale once i have finished with a few bits and bobs. Black has taken a turn for the worst. Since the gearbox decided to implode, a lack of funds and a gearbox has seen her deteriorate. She will be broken for parts most likely. Red is going strong with a remap by John at Bigfish tuning. Due to my annual mileage tripling i now cant afford the petrol though. ... Blue. Yes. I've gone and got another. She is a little Canica 'rosa TDI. And she's beautiful. A trip on the train up to dundee saw me pick up my new daily, a member on here kindly passed the keys and i cracked on as soon as she was home. a couple of you may recognize the car.. or rather the reg as she's had a fair bit of work since i got my grubby mitts on her. I feel this thread has veered off from the title - and since the car in focus will now be no longer worked on, i will create a new thread in the members cars section. If you would like to feast your eyeholes on the new motor then i suggest you try to find it in the members cars. Over and out.
  14. Once again, long time since an update so get straight to the photos: Had a 9 hour detailing session on the Cupra in the 2 weeks i had off work - washed, clayed, washed, polished, sealed and waxed. Following that i embarked on a little work on silver: Cluster out, and a little bit of soldering then.. POOF nice white lights The way the light is spread in this particular cluster design means there is a little colour leak from the LCD LED's bugs me but thats a problem for another day. On a side note, i WILL finish this boot build, i'm just incredibly lazy I also have a Mk2 bootlid to fit when the build is done.. so yeah.
  15. Yuuuuup. CUUUUPRAWWWR So much quicker than the twins, great fun to drive too and its nice to not worry about something going wrong. Already chucked a good chunk of cash at it so i can call it my own but the next load of pay checks will be going towards the black one so i can 1, drive it and 2, start modding again: £800 - £1000 - Wheels/Tyres £600 - Bodywork/Fenders + Paint touch up £600 - Interior £500 - Sound system Thats what i'm hoping for, don't really want to spend much more than that as i'm well broke and getting broker. Aiming for 2015 show season - if it doesn't go tits up and i hit that ill be happy.
  16. Oh yeah, this happened as well...
  17. Definitely one of the more challenging projects i've undertaken but it'll all pay off when i eventually get the ol' girl to a show. Cant remember if i've posted before but the problem was BOTH the ECU and throttle body - initially the heater wire on the lambda probe shorted the ECU but the throttle body valve was also forced into an unnatural position which was sending a corrupt signal to the ECU, replaced both units then had to tackle 3 pages of MOT fails. Needs a new gearbox now though, also needs cam + crank seals, water pump, the belts and a couple of bits and bobs so i'm SORN-ing it until i can find (some money) a gear box. In other news the silver stallion is back with some fancy disky brakes When i swapped the rear coilover adjusters over i found they had corroded massively, they had bonded onto the old beam and pretty much shattered off, leaving chunks behind still stuck on. Not what i was expecting from parts that are only around a year old. AP coilovers - brilliant ride quality but they don't seem that durable. Freshly refurbished and poly-bushed along with 'furbed calipers. BLAAACK.
  18. 2 man pumping the pedal, furthest away from the master cylinder to the closest
  19. traced it back to the master cylinder and i cant see any leaks
  20. Just done a rear disc conversion along with replacing the front callipers, discs and pads and adding braided front lines, now i cant seem to get air out the system, rear brakes are fine and the front drivers is fine, but when i try to bleed the passenger front there is just a constant stream of fine bubbles. I have ran about 3 litres of fluid through the system and about half of that was through the front passenger calliper. The car is now un-drivable because there is about half a pedal of travel before any braking force is applied. I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions?
  21. I've ran 0AWG and it fits perfectly well under the trim, have a look through my thread -> HERE Ive had no problems at all with the wiring or trim since i have put it in Im not saying do it like this as there is probably a better way of doing it, however it worked well for me. Since you are running 0AWG have you considered upgrading your alternator or battery?
  22. You'll most likely need to take it to an auto locksmith - probably the cheapest option as the software/hardware will be rather expensive, just get the transponder coded at the same time you get the key cut. Since you have VCDS you can code your RCL in. Im currently doing this also and i've coded the RCL in but i haven't been bothered to get the key cut or coded
  23. That reg is almost the same as mine!
  24. I have already put up a how to on this topic but as i've just looted the scrapyard for some spare wiring, i thought i'd make a video to show how simple it really is
  25. No spacers. I think the pictures do it justice, when i bought it the rear was already cambered so there is a significant gap on the rear i would like to fill, maybe 20mm either side but ill have to see. Front is spot on for me, however the way i have taken the picture, the wheel is turned out so you can see the arch gap but you cant see the track width. The arch gap is good but the track width isn't as wide as it looks and is nowhere near 'perfect fitment'. The car is what i like to call 'functionally lowered' - if i were to go any lower i would have daily problems seeing as i go over some fairly mountainous speed humps daily and also regularly carry a full car load lift sharing to work. After i get a sound system sorted i'm looking to treat her to some new shoes in the form of Enkei 92's or Klutch SL1's with a bit of stretch, however these are only plans and are nowhere near set in stone so will most likely change when my bank account inevitably plunges into demise.
