  1. Good idea on the whole. I see far too many young drivers driving like idiots- and sometimes harsh measures need to be taken. We're too soft in this country and something has got to change.
  2. I have to keep pulling the whole switches unit and push the switch in properly and it works for a few days. Then stops working again. It's only the door lock at fault- the door open function is fine. How do you take the actual switch out?
  3. My central locking button works intermittently, Cheers
  4. Update on this £567 lighter- New Module and slip ring fitted by VW. Did it fix the issue? Of course not!!! It seems what is now needed is a "memory igniter for battery cut off" N253 requires new igniter cable replacing to battery positive connection. A further £168.95. And on back order... But this should apparently do it... What the hell happened to this car!!
  5. I have all the torx bits defcon, many thanks for the offer. A teeny weeny bit of trim foam would be brilliant though! So it's a T20- glad I now know- it'll make the world of difference as when I push the cupholder bit in the interior is miles more quiet!
  6. I have this annoying rattle coming from there but cannot see which screws hold it in place. Help!
  7. When you spend a small fortune on a car to make it almost "as new" mechanically I would really think twice about letting it go. I know I have have spent about £1k+ in about 2 months on mine to fix all the niggly problems it had on it and I wouldn't let it go in a hurry. I have gone to France with it and it's perfect- now- and at last feel like "mine" ie immaculate and well cared for. Of course if you were bored of it- that would be a different matter. But it seems you're not. Keep it.
  8. The lupo clutch is very light!!! I had an 09 Cooper S before it- and that was heavy!! All MINI's have heavy clutches- the mk1 even more so. I couldn't believe how a 10 year old Lupo could have such a light clutch!
  9. For now I'm quite happy with the standard stuff- I've spent enough! In time, if it proves to be reliable, I'll start spending serious cash on it.
  10. Bags are fine- module broke.... Just one of those things. I've just order rear shocks & bushes for mine as they were tired. Should defo be good after that, famous last words eh!
  11. I remember the miles within about 50 miles. So will have to do that i guess! About mine- all is ok, but new airbag module required= forking out about £450. Bar that it's sound as a pound and I've got used to it. It does all I ask of it with no bother and is great fun to drive. You keeping yours?
  12. I've done this- I know it's more than possible to add/delete as many miles as you want. I'd like though, ideally, to put the exact mileage. I'm an honest kind of guy see.
  13. I need to add 25000 miles on the clocks, as I have Rich's old clocks! I am about to bugger off to France for a bit and I'm adding a crazy amount of miles recently so I do want an accurate record.
  14. Mine was changed at 90k- had the same symptoms as yours according to previous owner.
  15. The guy could be interested I'm sure- we'll have to work something out. Defcon- it can take up to 3 weeks from memory! Do what I do and find yourself a standard wheel for not a lot of ££'s. Or public transport for 3 weeks??!

    Lupo GTI

Hands down the nicest GTI I've seen. This is exactly how to mod a GTI.
  17. He can pad it out more with "stuff" apparently.
  18. For some reason mine got sorted when they welded the exhaust. I genuinely am baffled as to how that sorted it.
  19. Totally agreed- perforated leather with red stitching it is! Yes and yes! Any wheel I guess!
  20. I am having my steering wheel re-trimmed as my old one was beyond knackered. This guy: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E36-M3-Z3-Z3M-M-tech-Alcantara-Steering-Wheel-/290548619348?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a60c1854#ht_3973wt_907 ... is fantastic and comes well recommend on many forums and re-trimming wheels better than OEM quality. If you live near oxford you can even drop it off/pick it up when finished and he'll fit the wheel for you. Sadly I live nowhere near! Anyhow I love the look and feel of alcantra but the Lupo GTI comes with leather as standard, I dunno wether to stick rigidly to OEM and go leather or go Alcantara. Both with red stitching. Perforated later looks good too!!
  21. My steering wheel leather is beyond repair- and I'm thinking of re-stitching a new cover on it. Is the old one just stitched on or is it glued on too?
  22. Any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-LUPO-1-6-GTI-MINTEX-REAR-BRAKE-DISCS-PADS-/360197661165?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53dd7421ed#ht_3037wt_907 I don't want to plough loads of money on the less important rears- but they seem to have had decent press, the only problem seems to be an occasional squeak?
