  1. Hi there, I know this is probably a long shot, but I bought new insurance for my vw golf today and went on askmid.com to check it was showing as insured. A couple of years ago my lupo gti was written off category D and I really loved the car prior to the accident, I was gutted when it happened. Randomly popped the registration of it into askmid.com today while I was on there and it came up as insured! So are you driving it? The registration is VF53 ***, it's a 2004 on a 53 red gti 6 speed with heated leathers and air conditioning as standard so probably not many others out there matching that description! I'd just be happy to see how it's looking these days as I really did love it. Reply or drop me a message.
  2. I am possibly the best person to answer this. I had a lupo gti until it was written off, I now HAVE a golf mk5 1.9 tdi match. Yes the golf is very torquey but only for a second or two in each gear. It does pull well mind you, it's not sluggish but it's definitely not fast either. But the fact that having driven both my lupo gti and the mk5 golf tdi to amsterdam and back (both times late for the ferry on the way back so flat out nearly the whole way) he is an absolute dreamer as the mk5 golf 1.9 tdi is LIMITED to 115mph. It's not hitting the rev limiter at all it's physically limited by the ECU. Even if this limiter was removed I suspect it would reach 120mph max because your very close to the rev limiter doing 115mph. The lupo gti on the other hand i had doing 130mph for quite some time without lifting, and when really going for it (and down a hill) i've seen it do as near as damn it 140mph.
  3. Exact same part number is it? I doubt it. If it's not just because the hand fits the glove it's still a retro fit. Nothing elitest about keeping your car original.
  4. I am open to offers, bit pointless reading the thread or commenting if your not interested. Some people clearly spend their time wisely...plus i suspect your not gti owners i certainly wouldn't of let any parts from a mk3 golf near my gti but then again not many people keep their cars to the same standard i do.
  5. Hello, first of all thanks for looking. I have a genuine volkswagen steering wheel slip ring that i purchased a while ago with the intention of fitting it to my lupo gti. Shortly after the car was written off and i found this in my "man drawer" the other day and thought about selling it. I have had a look on ebay and currently there are two on there for sale the cheapest one is £150. Therefore i think i am being very reasonable to ask for just £100 for the one i have. The sticker that is on the slip ring shows it has never been used or fitted and you will be able to tell this from the condition of the item. If your horn doesnt work or there is a slight grinding sound or feel coming from your steering wheel it is very likely to be a faulty slip ring. Finally this will fit ALL lupo models inc. gti and ALL polo models that are made from 1998-2002 inc. gti. Any enquiries give me a call on 07769204498.
  6. Parcel shelf removed from my lupo gti at the same time I removed my rear seats. Don't have the car anymore so am selling. Text me on 07730611979 if your interested. Cheers.
  7. Hello all, as a few of you may know my lupo gti was written off recently and today when going in the shed to get my bike out I noticed that i still had the lupo's parcel shelf! Therefore just thought i'd pop back on here and put it up for sale seeing as there are probably not many for sale from a GTI. Anyway im looking for £25 collected from hertfordshire. All enquiries to my phone please, 07730611979. I don't check my PM as i don't really use this forum anymore so please contact me by phone, no later than 11pm. Thanks for reading.
  8. Yeah still going on about it, with your help
  9. Wow that's impressive, I know you get loads more performance when you remap diesels but I didn't think you could a tdi loop close to a Gti! In terms of looks, presence and everything else tho....NO competition at all.
  10. Buy some vernier calipers, digital ones for retards that can't read manual ones. If you ever want to measure something accurately you can't beat them and they DO come in handy.
  11. my written off gti is faster than a remapped tdi, even when sitting in the yard waiting to be repaired
  12. If your gonna compromise and get a diesel, go for the tdi! 99% of all modern diesel cars have turbos, for better fuel efficiency and power. In summary - TDI = Good mpg and sluggish SDI = Good mpg and very sluggish
  13. Maybe I didn't want to put them on ebay dooshbag, auctions did exist before ebay you know. THIS ITEM IS NOW SOLD...THEY'VE GONE TO A GREAT NEW HOME THE GUY'S GTI THAT PICKED THEM UP WAS FRESSSSSSH
  14. Cheers there yours if it does fall through.
  15. Someone is coming tonight to have a look so if they don't take them then i'll post on here but I can't see why they wouldn't.
