  1. Why do you have unreal expectations? The PS3 is over 4 years old, released in 2006, and you expect it to blow you away visually in nearly 2011? That's about as much visuals as you are going to see on a PS3, Polyphony have done their best on the game, they even bypassed the PS3 256mb graphics card apparently and use the PS3 cell processor to do everything as it's more powerful (but hard to programme for). Seems like your disappointment is based on prejudices though. I think Polyphony are frustrated over the lack of power of the PS3 as they have such detailed models to render in real-time, hopefully they can do it for a PS4 console (part of their long term plans). But anyway i think the standard cars as i pictured look amazingly good. 1080p and 60fps. So much more to come in the future... Polyphony Digital have just announced a new official steering wheel/pedals setup for GT5, a Thrustmaster premium product, i gather it has a belt driven feedback motor for precise and realistic steering feel. On sale shortly i believe. Also GT5 is meant to be really special in 3d, which they spent 2 years working on. It gives a sense of depth and gives an advantage to the driver in performance ability, and enjoyment. There is also face tracking for looking around the cockpit using PSeye, i don't think it works very well at the moment though. There are many many compromises as the PS3 is very underpowered for what PD wanted to give with all the features they had ideas for (or were commanded to provide by their owners SONY and wished for by demanding fans). All i know is PD are hugely dedicated to Gran Turismo, and they are working hard on GT6 and GT7 etc... Progress is slow though, i think Sony should at least double the staff count, and bring forward PS4 development.
