I beleive he is at university in newcastle, so may be a bit busy!
dayam!
well ill try get in touch when i get my loop coils are more important in the mean time
-
He lives in Leeds like you, hence why I posted what I did
oh right nice one, i might ask him if he could do some work for me if i pay him ;D
-
He did most of the plastic welding work himself from memory so I doubt he'll be much help on that front.
As for paintwork and other bodywork, ask your mates who they have used, visit the body shops and cast an eye over their work to see if it meets your standards. It's one think being told a body shop are good, it's very different seeing it for yourself.
Yeh, well me and my mate whos just got an mk5 polo are looking to get a fair bit of work done between us
Do you know where DJ lupz is based?
Theres quite a few bodyshops around my area but ive never really seen any of them do plastic welding :S
-
You did search him as 1 word?
just searched DJ Lupz
-
PM DJ lupz, He has had a lot of work done recently, may be able to recommend somewhere
i cant find him in the members list?
-
okay nice one, thanks for the help, ill see how it sits when ive gotten it and tried a few things out
-
Anyone on here had the front/back ends smoothed out or know anywhere near me end that can do it well?
Yorkshire and all surrounding areas if possible, im willing to travel if the quality is worth it! i only want to get the jobs done once, so quality is everything here
plan on getting the bonnet groove flush
the indicators smoothed out
and the reg plate recess smoothed out
-
As above, lower it until it scrubs then jack it a little.
Do you own a heat gun and a rubber mallet?
If yes then it will be pretty easy to roll your arches yourself.
hairdryer and rubber mallet do the job? ;D
is it literally that easy? just heat it and whack it till its flat?
dont you need something to brace the bodywork so it doesnt bend/you can hit it hard? or is it soft/weak plastic?
-
dayaaaammmm really?
you know anywhere decent at arch work round my end?
Yorkshire and surrounding areas, ill travel if its decent
will getting them rolled and not flared help much at all?
i was gna sell these and get some thinnner ones to go lower but i want these on
was thinking about polished p slots but you always see them on lupos :/
been offered 450£ for the cups but i dont wana let them go
-
to get my 8.5's to fit the way they do, i needed to do loads of arch work and camber. all depends on the offset and the tyres.
i dont think ill be cambering unless its a last resort
8s are at et35 but id have them atleast et30 cos theres shoulders on the back of the wheel, made for some kind of direct fit or RH custom spigots or something cant really tell
tyres are 195/45/14
thats best pic i have to show stretch 7" on the left 8" on the right
heres another on my current car, excuse the tape over the wiper hole, was waiting on a bung in the post
-
No problem, id imagine at a rough guess on the sizes youve give you can probably go about 50-75mm before arch work.
ah really is that all :S
do most people on here (with 8" rears) have arch work done already?
-
Shouldnt have any problems with pipes etc, im no expert on spacing/wheels but in my time of being on here ive never seen anyone complaining about pipes getting in the way etc.
alright good, because i want it low as possible but still with poke on the back#
thanks for the help
-
et45 will be in the arch so like tucked, and et35 will almost sit flush. So you will be able to space them out if your going to run stretch etc.
well id be running 10mm spacers all round i think then more on the back if i need it
is there a fuel pipe in the arch/wheel space at the back? just that on my 107 theres a huge fuel pipe in the arch on the passenger side so i had to run 15mm spacers on the back and it caught my arches loads ;o
-
Turn the coil overs until they are just above the tyre , if it scrubs heighten it a bit until it is either bearable or it doesn't scrub, thats how low you will be able to go.
cheers man, do you know if ill have any tread poke? i just want it so i can have the stretch poking and the tread under so i can take it that bit lower

Hi, when i get my lupo next month i plan on getting it on coils as soon as possible
I have a set of staggered RH cups
14x7 et45 on the front (i have sets of 5/10/15mm spacers available)
14x8 et35 on the back again with the above spacer options available
195/45/14 on all wheels so the 7s have no stretch and the rears have about 30mm
How low can i go with these?
Im guessing my fronts shouldnt be a problem for getting low? just worried about the rears catching :/
and another question
ill probably get getting arches rolled at some point but i dont think id get them flared cos i cba with repainting if it cracks!
so does anyone know anywhere near yorkshire that does arch rolling and how much it will cost? or if i can do it myself?
Thanks, Max

Ha a small fortune but worth every penny.
If i had that choice it would be AP coilies for me. V-maxx are probably on par with TA ones.
yeh they dont give me a good vibe and for 100 more than TAs i didnt see the point, gna try save for APs and if not, just risk TAs and hope for the best!
-
wow haha, how much has all that set you back?
i dont care about performance, its gonna be my daily so as long as shes riding comfortably low im happy
im getting TA or AP coils i think, cant really afford much better atm and i havnt heard much about the v-maxx setup
ive heard dampers with the AP are good but TA dampers arent great though, thats the only thing putting me off atm
-
i might have to see if i can find some cheap APs then!
Gna try save up as i wont be driving it until the 17th of nov anyway so i can leave it on stilts until then
-
did you get them professionally fitted or is it possible to do it yourself?
dno whether to get AP or TAs cos its a big difference in price and some people seem to have had good runs with technics, just that the bad reviews are putting me off thats all :|
-
The product you buy will depend on your budget really
Buying TA over something more expensive shouldn't effect high speed motorway stability.
You may want to reconsider your 'atleast 70mph' speeds, although it can do more
the 1.0l seems to be happier at 60mph tbh!
-80mm seems sensible to me just depends on your roads and what wheels/offset you run..
haha
well budget isnt loads bout 300-400 inc fitting unless i can do it myself?
ive heard mixed reviews on TAs but a lot more positive feedback on APs
hah yeh might have to sit in the outside lane for a change
80mm should be enough for me but im gna be running
14x8 et25/30 (depending on which is better as ive got loads of spacers)with 195/45/14 (about 30mm stretch from tread to lip) on the backs
and
14x7 et30/35 again depending, also with 195/45/14 hardly any stretch on the front
that should be okay for not rubbing right?
or will i need some arch work doing? hopefully only need rolling as i dont have the money to mess about with flaring atm ;D

Hi, im getting a lupo next month and im wanting to put it straight on to coils
It will be a 1.4l but i will be using it on the motorway a lot, would TA techs be the way to go or should i opt for a better brand since ill be running halifax to leeds on the motorway 2/3 times a week
Also, for the same reason, whats the most you would recommend lowering it?
Thanks, Max

well it turns out ill have enough to get APs when i get my loop so it should be sitting on them within the first week
