  1. Ok nice one, ill be getting new topmounts tomorrow because they dont look in a great way and if it makes it easier thats a win-win

how much are a set of new topmounts?

do i need 4 new ones or just the 2 fronts ones?

  2. Looking for a front bumper splitter for the loop and just wondered what people are running on here, and what splitters suit the non-gtis

Its a 1.4 non sport, what are my best options?

im looking for a fairly basic design, just need some extra fake lows when its on coils :)

    Thanks

  3. ohhh right hhahaah i read the other reply wrong :P

yeh i have no idea where id put it

is it illegal to have it attached to your passenger sun visor?

if it is itll have to go on the bottom corner of the bumper grill!

  4. Yeh if they're reasonable. As its primarily a spray job, minus the plate recess! Then you will have fun trying to find somewhere where the number plate doesn't look sh*t. I regret getting mine done.

    ahhh really? :|

looks so good when its done though, whats wrong with yours? has it sunk or something?

  5. Okay so plans are;

Coils are sorted for xmas, gna get some technix so theyll be fitted come new year

    Plans in january are;

back bumper full colour code respray (no smoothing)

front bumper reg plate smoothed and resprayed (leaving bottom half black)

putting my standard grille back on and leaving the bonnet (for now anyway ;))

should hopefully be done mid/end of january

ill update when its looking less ugly!

  6. Couldn't say as I had the front and rear smoothed, aswell as other bits like the bonnet badge indent etc. Came to £600 which was good for all the bits.

I havent taken the bumper off yet, but I have driven into things and cracked it a few times, had to go back for repairs, but I would assume it does come off as one piece, and no doubt crack, hence why I havent done it. :D

wow £600 for all that, pretty sweet deal

only plastic welding i want is the reg plate, then im just colour coding both front and back without smoothing the lines between, and then putting standard grille back on (ie. not doing bonnet anymore)

how much would you reckon, about 300-450 for it?

  7. I've done two sets. The first I used a soldering iron to melt the cap (in the standard lights it's actually green, not orange) into lots of small pieces and then shook them out of the hole. Unfortunately, it's not particularly worth it as there is still an orange tint to the light anyway, so it doesn't make a lot of difference.

On the next set I used snips and needle-nose pliers to cut the cap into bits. I would say it's well worth doing on Cambridge lights, as, when used with a chrome bulb, it removes all orange from the indicator when not in use.

    :)

oh do the cams come with orange filters as well?

well it looks like im going to have to do it either way arent i :D

Gna get cams ordered this weekend from boz, and then its coils at xmas and colour coding bumps new years

  8. The hole you are working through is about the same dia. as that of the bulb + a few mm.

The orange filter is the shape of the bulb and clips into the surround.

You basically have to work through the hole to cut the orange filter into pieces.

ahh sounds a ball ache, well im still undecided on cambridge rears so i might not even bother in the end!

    thanks for the help

  9. Yes you can break\cut the orange filter out. You will then need orange bulbs with a cover such as these...

...and yes, Cambridge\SE rear clusters are a straight swap.

cheers, ill just use chromed indicators so it eliminates the orange completely when the bulbs arent in use

How difficult is it to remove the orange cover then? im guessing its tricky since you said 'break' :P

  10. Hi

On the tail lights the indicator sections have a slight orange tint to them, i was wondering if this was just a coloured cap on the inside of the bulb that could be removed and then replaced with a chromed amber bulb?

Also, are cambridge lights straight swap for standard ones??

    Thanks

  11. Hi,

Just wondered if an arosa tailgate is a direct fit/swap for a lupo tailgate

Also, when you take the seat 'S' logo off is there a notch/groove/hole behind it or is it just stuck on like the lettering (and therefore smooth underneath)

    Thanks,

    Max

  12. boot build bbs rms tidy the whole exterior of the car up, then after a year smooth a few bits, couple of engine bits, some new interior bits sterring wheel etc and poss retrim the seats lol

ha epic, 4k is how much i paid for my car and insurance for the year!

How you getting away will full red'ing the rears? Isn't that illegal? Don't you need a reverse light  Looks good though!

no apparently not, you just have to have a working reverse light, im not sure it passes mot with red reverse lights but its not illegal anyway so i can just take them off and reapply after mot :)

  13. good progress is it difficult removin the trim? also your hazard light needs to flash for your MOT apparently

no worries its only a bit of vinyl and my mot is in august :P

only hard part is popping off the top t section, i thought i was gna break it but it needs a bit of force, everythnig else is easy

i also had to cut all the old pastic welds down/off with a knife so it would go back on again, theres 3 clips on it thatll hold it down so you dont have to worry about it going anywhere

  14. just a quick one, realised i never put up pics of dash trim painted

took some pictures this morning but my baby was just hiding in the snow

    snow1.jpg

anyway, dash trim ahoy, just used the reflex silver that halfrauds do, pretty good match to say its next to 8 yr old paint! looks like a bad match on pics cos of bad quality and lighting but in real its a good match :)

also vinlyed over the hazard button while i had it out, makes it look cleaner imo

got my radio cubby hole in aswell thanks again to lupoboz
