CasperGTI - im going to get a sports cat made for my gti, and check manifold connections (was on car when bought, havnt looked at it yet), after i get the sports cat would you recommend a remap to get it setup properly? any idea the cost of a remap?

Does anyone know what exhaust system is on this gti? this is my gti now but had the system on when i bought it - dont have a clue what make it is or if its custom?? trying to sort out performance issues as car isnt performing as it should. ive got a raceland + bmc, and cause there is no cat im having torque problems. as mentioned in the other thread in 'tuning' a sports cat was recommended, so looking into getting one made and im going to change the tail pipe to a twin as this was is too big old thread dug up cheers Lewis!

cheers for that; yeh exactly as described. i do appear to have lost alot of torque, takes it until the higher revs to notice the car pulling - i have drivin my mates gti and there is such a difference, his seems to be performing as it should. ok getting a sports cat then - how much is it likly to cost, as it will need to be custom? would you recommend a remap once the sports cat is fitted and sensors are sorted? looking forward to getting this sorted out, been an ongoing issue for ages now

yeh, ok well i dont have a cat to put on it, and at the moment car is seriously loud, dont think it is performing as best it could. gotta be down to the messed up sensors. if lambda sensor is located at bottom of manifold - is this the correct location for it? will performance be effected if not in correct location?>

hello currently have a lupo gti with a 4-2-1 raceland + decat exhaust, was on the car when i bought it. over the past couple of months, car has gone into 'limp mode' when starting, really need to give it revs for 20/30 secs to get it lit i know there are many topics on this but couldnt find the answer i was looking for does anyone know the best way to go about this - raceland with janspeed system. my engine light is alwayss on, it would appear the previous owner had extended the lambda sensor, im thinking of getting a janspeed system as i definatly wont pass MOT over here in northern ireland Could someone tell me where the sensors should be relocated to, for best results, and so the engine management light isnt on, basically looking for the correct setup for these mods much help would be appreciated cheers

can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is located on the gti?? any suggestions on checking fuel line etc; have a feeling it could be a fuel issue? cheers

ok changed spark plugs, ht leads and new coil pack cleaned the throttle body, pretty stinkin beneath the flap, on the walls - used plenty of carb cleaner alot of the gack has gone problem is still occuring engine starts revs sitting around 200-300 rpm then cuts out; holding in the accelerator seems to have no effect battery light was on but had jump leads on it at the time might take this to a garage to have a look at cause i have got a small oil leak as well - there is oil in it though

i gotta prob with my gti: it doesnt always start as it should normally, it will idle at low revs (below 1000rpm) then cut out, then when i go to restart it it wont start. i left it for a bit then tried again and eventually started but had to rev it a good few times before driving it had a new starter put in around 5000 miles ago, anyone had/got this prob or know how to sort it? ch eers

ok is the switch easily swapped anyone know? its a bit of a ballox that it doesnt go down ..

helo i have a problem in my gti, from the drivers side electric windows control, i can raise the passenger window fine, but cannot lower it - i have to stretch over to the passenger side to lower the window. anyone know what part needs replacing or if this can be fixed? cheers

here are a few pics of my old lupo. its a 1.4s lowered 60mm, jetex exhaust, side strips removed, scrubbed like f**k was sweet untill someone crashed into the rear p/s 1/4 panel crumpling the panel and bending the Rear Drum Beam Got it fixed but was not what it was; took all parts off and sold it Started off looking like this: then: Bit late getting photos up, sold it last November i think bought an 01 Fiesta Zetec-S off a mate so been driving that since; all about getting back to the vw though! Got a 2001 Lupo GTI will get pics up soon

not sure off the offset, wheels are 15" 7"wide, tyres are 195/45/15. lupo milan - i would say i would do approx 1000 miles a month, both front tyres where worn out after just 1 month, you got the same problem? so any ideas on what angle the camber should be set to, to avoid this bad case of scrubbing ??

hello i have a 1.4s lowered 60mm. Recently i had the camber angle changed back to the original angle as i went through a set a toyo proxies in under a month as the camber angle was way off, the inner edge of the tyres were destroyed lucky didnt have a blow out as it was worn right down to the wire. anyway, now the angle is at its original position the tyres scrub so badly on the front when turning corners/hitting small bumps etc, this is wearing the outer edge of my tyres down now front hitting on the arch, but not drastically. what i am wondering is what angle should the front camber be changed to to stop this happening? it used to corner so well, had no prob with scrubbing before just need to get this sorted as going through a set of tyres every month is pretty bad! cheers Lewis

does anyone know how to replace the rear brake light at the top of the boot lid? i have taken out the three screws which i thought would have let me at the bulbs, but i cannot remove the plastic covers to get at them. cheers
