sounds like the switch to me, sorry to hijack the thread but mine does the same sort off. turn the key to get the pump to prime everything good all lights on then sometimes when you turn further the lights all go off on the dash. would this also be the switch?

yes they could pos go at same time. try disconnect the swicthes and get a peice of wire and short them out so you are working them manually. if that doesnt work its not the switch.

have a look at the down pipes/cat as they arent cheap and you have to replace the whole front pipe as one. correct me if am wrong guys. i have found that things for the lupo are more expencive than my G40. your GT is probably a far better car than the lupo overall. i have heard from a few garages inc vw ones that the 1.4 16v engine in the loops is the worst engine vw has made, and i kind of agree because of the probs i have had with the gf's one and its only at 75k. just my tupence worth.

hi to all, thought i would sign up to the CL site incase i have any mory probs with my gf's lupo. the car is red in colour, 75k, 1.4s, its std. located in ne scotland. been a vw fan for the past 10 years and owned a few golfs, polo's, audi's and her lupo, my fav is still my G40. I have been looking through some of the threads and have found them pretty usefull, and i hope that if anything else goes wrong i know where to look first. will stick up a pic when i get time. mark

hi, new comer to the forum. I also have a TB problem i think, hoping someone could give me anything else to try before i throw money at it to try solve it. car is a 1.4 16v loop, x plate (girlfriends car). problems= car sometimes a pain to start, ie lights on dash go off when trying to start. so got it plugged in and was temp sensor so changed it, a couple of weeks later had same problem and it turned out to be o2 sensor in cat, again changed it. Still a problem to start at times, checked zaust and its hole free, cleaned TB on sat fired it up and started first time every time, EPC light came on today and wont rev. brake lights work, been reset to ecu but fault still comes up with TB control malfunction. trying the dissconect battery overnite just to see. any help or advice welcome.
