  4. thanks for your help mate. will have a scroll through the forsale section.
  5. ahh i see, i like the ones you have! they gotta be vw ones right? suppose i could chop the bars down a bit though if i got universal, how much did you pay?
  6. can i get universal ones that will fit, or should i be looking at vw specific? i do a lot of outdoor stuff and could do with the extra room in the car. ie bike rack.
  7. cheers for the replies guys the whine is only in motion and in all gears, with the clutch out and in 5th, if i go on and off the gas you can hear it on acceleration and decellaration. it also gets louder the more load i put on the engine, say if im in 3rd and come off the gas, it will whine until i come to a complete stop. i understand this aint gonna be a cheap fix, nothing ever is lol
  8. like i havent got enough on my plate lol. got a gearbox whine now guys, more noticeable when i let off the gas. bearing? or a new box? gettin attached to it if im honest (even though its a business runabout) just cant take much more hassle off it. im already down a clutch and a piston ring. any help greatly appreciated. steve
  9. and some nice blue smoke on acceleration. diagnosis please guys.
  10. oh no, didnt think of it that way.
  11. cheers guys, even if it wasnt being stickered up i'd still take them off. think they look a ton cleaner without them.
  12. gonna take mine off as they look a bit tatty and will get in the signwriters way when he logos it up. do they just pull off? leaving a sticky residue (carefull) behind? polish should get it off right?
  13. I still have the original wheels, even though they are in a mess. Problem is, I've fitted bigger discs and callipers up front(celica st205) and they won't fit over them. Hence the bigger ones.
  14. and i thought i had taste, oh well. could do with some help with lucindas wheels too if im honest, not sure what to pick as im known as a "jap nut". aint got a clue where to start but none of my cars ever stay standard.
  15. here she is. bought her to use as a delivery vehicle for my new business. looking to drop her, new wheels and sort the few probs out that she has. put new rear shocks on her yesterday so the work has already commenced. should be going into the signwriters in a couple of weeks to have my business details splashed all over it. and i know it isnt vw but in the summer this comes out of hiding!
  16. cheers fellow members, been to have it checked over today at my mates garage, 1. rear shockers. 2. light cluster filled with water 3. gearbox problems but he didnt have time to investigate. 4. central locking switch gone on drivers side door lock. none of these scare me in the slightest and ive had an ace day bumbling about town doing my deliveries. i'd been using a BMW 318is prior to the lupo and i cant believe it took me so long to downsize!
  17. hi guys, owner of a lupo for the first time, looked around for a while and found a cheap and tidyish 1999 1.4s. its going to be used as a delivery vehicle for my new business. didnt think a corsa van was gonna cut it so went VW. now, what should i be keeping my eye on? its difficult to get into 1st, it goes in but not smoothly. the passenger door lock sticks when locking from the drivers side. and the passenger window has stopped operating from the drivers side. apart from those wee issues im really happy, mates think im mad but i couldnt care less. cheers
