  1. Hey guys, As a follow on from my topic a week or so ago, I fitted my new stereo (With varying degrees of success, failure and swearing... ill eventually write a thread about it to help other people. It's better when it's written by a complete muppet because all bases regardless of how insane are usually covered lol!). It now works great, sounds great, and kind of looks pretty neat too. A bit chavvy of course but then again most aftermarket CD players seem to have this boy racer look. It must be a marketing thing because even the top of the range Pioneers, JVCs and Alpines tend to be styled on Blackpool lights rather than casual classiness. Anyway, opinionated bile aside, the radio is working and all that, but I've noticed a problem with MW. It's incredibly distorted when the engine is switched on. As in only when the engine is switched on. Engine off. It's fine, sounds quite good for MW in fact. The OEM one was definitely distorted when the engine was on, but not so badly. I'd say it was at least listenable, if you could deal with a little bit of hiss which sometimes came, went very bad and went. Trust me I got fairly used to it. However this radio, the hiss is unbearable when the engine is on. As in, it's just like a TV with static and nothing else. I'd say you would be lucky to actually understand anything, a single word would be impressive to be honest. What do you guys think? I googled it and as with anything car related, it's very fragmented. No real solutions, lots of speculation, lots of bad suggestions ("chop your unused RCA connectors off and tape the wire ends. This will stop the..." blah blah, mate you're talking ****ing bull****) Halfrauds are selling an alternator interference suppressor for 4 quid : http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_189944_langId_-1_categoryId_265890 I know it's just a capacitor but would fitting it help? Would fitting it be easy? Any tips for a complete newb :)
  2. Cool that's great thank you . I've been looking over the PC5-52 stuff too, can I just use like a scotch clip for that? blue to blue right? None of this connecting blue to red like other forums are suggesting! Cheers
  3. Hello, I'm quite new to this so forgive me for sounding like a complete and utter airhead lol! I'm just looking for some clarification. Firstly, can anyone explain definitively how to install the PC5-52 adapter? If you go on Google and search "PC5-52 fitting" etc, there isn't a single clear explanation. There are some short ones that don't really explain anything and others that suggest connecting the blue wire to a different coloured wire which seems ridiculous... considering it's probably blue for a reason right? Also, the head unit doesn't have an old fashioned aerial socket, rather a cable that has a tube on the end. It kind of looks like the tube in this photo : http://www.incarexpr...accs/pc5111.jpg It's a female socket. Is this the adapter I need to fit it? http://www.halfords....tegoryId_265877 Again, apologies for sounding like a complete spanner but hey, we all have to learn somewhere lol
  4. I know this topic is old, but I have just broken one of the internal grills on the inside of the vent. Not the actual outer grill that moves up and down but the internal grill which moves from side to side. Any help would be smashing!
  5. will get some pictures up, sorry i taken so long. I've not had chance to do much logging on lately. I think they look alright lol! But still, each to their own of course. What have other people done with like light tinting and stuff ?
  6. Just fitted them. Look wicked (at least in my opinion). Took me a few mins to work out why they weren't playing ball but for some reason they were wired with the block connector the opposite way round weird as ****, easy to fix of course because the you are putting a male connection into a female block so you just push it and widen the block but it was weird as ****. Least I didn't have to rewire them At least you can all say I took the abuse with good humour hey?
  7. Will upload some photos in a bit
  8. Hey mate,

are you getting the PM's it says that you hadn't read them since 3 or 4 days ago, just wondering. Cheers

  9. yeah course, I always keep the old ones in case I grow up
  10. Yes mate, you can't come to Stoke and not have an oat cake
  11. lol, I love the normal Lupo seats But yeah, keep scanning eBay. Ask around the golf forum as well
  12. Haha, well mate, each to their own of course. Some people like certain things and some people don't I wouldn't get mad over someone's opinion, especially over an Internet forum When someone comes and smashes my lights with a baseball bat... then I'll be pissed
  13. Hahah, this thread has turned right funny !! I were just amazed at how many people hated lexus lights lol!
  14. Hahah cheeky ****er  Actually, I don't eat maccies I'm one of the few who doesn't... Am I just digging a hole here
  15. I'm from Stoke mate. No, I'm really not taking the piss lol! I was... considering putting those Lexus lights on (Baring in mind i'd never seen the Cambridge lights before). And yes, most of my mates do have Lexus lights lol!
  16. Yeah that does make sense. Cheers
  17. Lmao, that is a cracking post. I didn't know everyone hated Lexus lights that much. I know a few people do but... **** haha! Like I said, it must just be where I'm from, almost every one I know has them on lol! Talk about being slaughtered aye? How do you tint them?
  18. True that. Luke, is that the Lupo on eBay for sale?
  19. Lol, very true It must just be where I'm from. Most of the lads I know round here have them on as one of the first things lol! Next is normally an induction kit, and then a bean can exhaust haha! The last I certainly won't be getting :)
  20. Lol, fair enough, I'll shop around for Cambridge lights, seeing as they do look nice. I'm sure I can stretch my overdraft a bit talk about peer pressure aye?
  21. Well not exactly. I do like the Lexus lights. I've always preferred them to be honest, but the Cambridge ones are nice i'll admit that. Given the opportunity I would obviously buy the Cambridge ones, but... the Lexus lights are cheaper, it isn't a mod for the sake of a mod, it is a mod that I quite like and at an alright price As for the quality, they're a decent set, second hand though! Possibly are inferior...
  22. I wasn't actually. But I know a lot of people don't like Lexus lights, see them as a bit chavvy and what not. I just... like them lol! The rear lights on the Arosa aren't really any nicer than the standard ones of the Lupo. I do like the Cambridge ones, but I can't seem to get them for anything under 70 or so quid. I can get a set of lexus lights for like 20 quid haha, tacky as **** i am haha
