  2. Hi Everbody. I was having a look around in the boot today (Lupo 1.0 E) for a suitable earthing point for a Kicker Sub and Amp that I have seen and wanted some suggestions as to the suitablility of the location that I found. Basically where the catch for the boot door is, there are 2 large round nuts that are screwed in and I was wondering if this was a good place to earth the sub? I did read the other threads where some suggested sanding a part down but, to be honest, im too lazy to do that. Lol. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
  3. The item is new but, missing its remote. I believe that these are readily available. I'm looking for £90-£100 - sensible offers will be considered.
  4. Hi, I've been reading posts re: the bonnet release handle and how some have experienced their cable snapping but, no body mentioned if they found it hard to put back. My handle came off and so I bought a new one from VW the other day. Now I'm trying to put the handle back and seem to be experiencing some problem putting it back. I've taken the trim off (there is a screw underneath the handle) and can see the round mechanism which pulls on the cable. However, as the handle comes in 2 parts, one push in type clip and the second is the actual handle. I'm not sure which way I should be putting this back in. I've tried the following: - Putting the handle back and then trying to fit the trim after - this does not work as there is not enough room for the trim to be fitted back. Also, the screw cannot be screwed back in afterwards - Screwing the trim in place and then connecting the square piece to the handle and pushing on. This does not work as the handle just falls off when I try to open the bonnet - Putting the square piece around the round mechanism but, then trying to fit the handle. This does not work either. So ... Any help would be most appreciated!
  5. Ok, I've jus had my In-Phase XT6C's (Components) installed into the Lupo, running directly from the head unit. Now, I have a slight problem, all the bass etc is going to the door speakers, instead of the underseat sub. Now, I don't think the Pioneer DEH-3630MP has a high pass filter in it, so, how can I stop the bass going to the door speakers? ANy suggestions? Will a high pass filter external one maybe work? According to the guy at car audio centre, he said nothing can be done but to either amp it up or get a new head unit with a high pass filter built in. Is this my only options? Any help would be most appreciated! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  6. Just bought some In Phase XT6C's ... They're ok. Good Bass output (eventhough no bass mena b coming from there). Will write more up on them when I have them sorted cos I found a little prob with them.
  7. Maybe try some Coax's which are very cheap or some cheap components. I know Pioneer are doing the straight swap coax's which use the exact same fitting as the Lupo.
  8. straight off the head unit. I spoke to the guy at the shop about another underseat sub but he said this will distort the sound quality. Anyone know if this is true or by how much it will distort?
  9. I have just purchased a pair of speakers ... In Phase's Xt6C's. My install is going to happen on Thursday next week and I will let you know of the outcome.
  10. Just put a deposit on the In Phase Xt6C's ... Hopefully the'll sound good.
  11. Daood, Just a quick note on the speakers. I have looked at all of the components and I would recommend the WCC (Orion Car Audio) ones. This is for one simple reason. I have heard the Infinity ones and tbh, they are rubbish. They distort and even the guy at Halfords said he wouldn't buy them. Personally, I don't think Kenwood make very good items. Alpine for speakers I have been told are not as well made as their other products such as their head units. The JBL's apparently aren't made by the same company which used to make them and so, a few shops have said to me that the life of ALL their products are not long. PG's I haven't heard any reviews. I am hopefully going for my install tomorrow or next week. I've been looking at the Kicker range and a few shops have said that they are defo better than the 'standard' which is similar to the makes listed above. I have heard the Pioneer coax's which do sound good but again distort at high levels. I personally think Pioneer make very good products and would have gone for their speakers but, the car audio guy said he would recommend the Alpine's over the Pioneers. As I am not going to amp them, he said they are indifferent and recommended I save some money by purchasing the Pioneer's. However, I am hoping to get rid of the Lupo by next year and so, I would want the speakers to come out when I sell.
  12. I hate to say it, but I think this is true for the simple reason that the old unit doesn't have any RCA's to allow it to connect to the amp. (I just checked My VW unit and it didnt have any RCA's on it.) So, I don't think you can connect an amp. However, i could be wrong ... maybe an audio expert could shed some more light onto this?
  13. Come to think of it, they could have also used a switch, like some cupboards do so, when they open the light is on but when the door is closed, it pushes the switch breaking the circuit and so switching the light off, but I doubt that this would be so.
  14. I'm currently looking at buying some Kicker Component speakers. Hopefully I should have decided on what I want to buy and should have them installed by next week sometime. I can test them out and let you know of the outcome if you'd like.
  15. ok, thanks for that one, will try and contact him to ask for some help. There's a kit off ebay which was recommended to me from another forum. The guy said it took about 3 hours in all to fit. He said the alarms which fit his car took him about 5 hours. So, in total he said it was an 8hour job as there was some problems with the alarm.
  16. I've finally got around 2 buying the kit for the lupo and now just need 2 install it. I've undone alot of the dirvers side of the dash and it seems awfully difficult to hide about 6 wires ... Has anyone done the retro fit before? If so, where did u manage 2 hide the wires as well as feeding them through the rubbers (gromets I think they are called) in the doors as I found it extremly hard when I moved the fuse box out of the way to feed about 6 wires through the small gap. Any help would be most appreciated.
  17. Yes, the wires are likely to be in the rubber gromet thing in the door. I did see some when I ran the tweeter wires through there. Unless its a sensor, in which case I'm not sure where it would be ... maybe on the clip which holds the door shut?? (sori not sure of the technical word.)
  18. not sure if you knew this and sorry if you do but, is the switch set on the right position, the one which activates it when the door opens. If not, maybe a sensor which detects when the door is open and then activates the light??
  19. The only thing I can recommend is making sure connections are good. For example, my earthing connection was poor and therefore I blew alot of fuses. So, I bought a load from eurocar parts.
  20. London run with a load of Lupo's sounds cool ... I'm only in Ilford (East London) so, I can get to Lakeside in like 20ish mins.
  21. Tyson, its not a dumb thing as any little thing I am doing wrong could be the cause. Yes there is a fuse in the power cable. It came pre done in the wire which I bought.
  22. I bought a Pioneer all in one sub and amp today however am in great difficulty and don't know how to fit it. Firstly, how can the power supply be taken from the battery and fed through to the amp? I cannot find a way for the wires to travel from the bonnet to the seat. Is there some hidden gromets which I cannot see?? Secondly, everytime I connect the power from the amp to the battery (to test the unit works), it keeps blowing the fuse in the car. Why is this happening and how do I stop this from happening?
  23. 16.5cm or I've been told that 17cm will also fit.
  24. for a small sub, you might wana look into an Alpine SWD-1600 or Pioneer do one. The Fli one is also quite small.
  25. I've tried unscrewing the Lupo's door cards with a star screwdriver but no luck. Does it require a special screwdriver or do I just need a different star screwdriver? Any help would be most appreciated.
