not ran the bike "bodies" but i imagine with mapping it will run very well throughout the rev range as you would have a suitable ignition map to suit,

my 1.4 16v pulls from 2k all the way to the red line without any signs of stopping, its got such a linear torque delivery, but it leaning out top end due to the main jets being too small (142/144). you cant really map the setup im using, as its using a mk2 polo dizzy and ignition amp/coil but i could rip it out, stick in megasquirt and map the ignition that way giving me more room to play.

Thanks for the pic, i might head be heading down manchester way to pick up a new trailer next weekend if i am i will detour by and have a closedr look at the setup, Take it the tps is there on the TB's??, U also got a AVY head for sale aswell???

  5. ive got a mk2 polo with 1.4 16v engine on bike carbs, i bought the lupo gti and throttle bodies with a view to run it on aftermarket management as there is already a 60-2 trigger wheel and crank sensor.

after 250 for the itb/mani setup, megasquirt can be had for around 200 quid and then you'd need it mapping prices vary dependant on place

kool kool, u any pics of then mani alone, if gota think about the difrences in length n stuff, have you felt that running bike bodies made a difrence?? goin by what people say bike carbs are only goood higher up the rev range, but if you map it it's basicaly like any aftermarket itb setup??? am i right?

Any help on this would be great as im wanting to do this conversion so much but with thoughts of buying a house the £1600 jenvey setup is a long way away,

  6. i have a set of this r1 itb and manifold setup to fit 1.4 and 1.6 16v engines going spare as im using carbs now

    How much??

Heard people saying bike carbs are no good but just had a mk2 polo with bike bodies go through my work and seemed okay to me,

  7. I can back up that daviegti was pulling away from type r's and that mk6 gti with the black bonnet, was watching from the side of the strip on sunday.

My lupo sports best time at crail was 16.177 and that was with stripped interior, custom induction kit and cat back exhaust.

But my engine seized shortly after that haha...

Been meaning to ask who that was. Saw u leaving, think u where in front of me at the traffic in that wee town,

  8. I've run 1/4 miles several times in many modded dubs usually ones that were dubsport built back in the day when Dubsport was a proper company owned by Ian Birch who knows a thing or two about tuning & 1/4 miles 14 seconds is a dream 16's is good going & anything below.

Never run the Lupo up the 1/4 mile as would have to spend a fortune on it before I would be happy to do so & IMO Lupo Gti's are best for go cart like handling rather than 1/4 mile racing.

I would be genuinley stunned to see 14 secs from a Lupo Gti.

Many people talk the talk re 1/4 miles but never do the business when it comes down to it, not just the car it's good re-actions, not missing a gear, & keeping your nerve.

All sounds easy but it ain't that easy when you come up against a Skyline at santa Pod the whole world is there watching you, you know you are gonna get creamed but it's just a case of by how much you are about to lanuch & your gear selector goes & you have to be pushed of the start ! painful experience that one LOL

Still LMAO at the guy in his 355 Ferrari who i thrashed in a Mk1 Gti at York run what ya brung & when my mate & me & all our camping gear spanked a Rallye Golf up the 0-60 at Peterborough we even filmed him as we did him in a highly modded Mk1.

Sadly to old now reactions are slowing but still a blast.

Had never planned to drag it, was goin to take it to knockhill but just got bit by the bug again, i used to take my derv ibiza up try get under 15's with it, best i got was 14.9, Just thought under 15 would be easy with the lupo Because of the power to weight and the grip they have, i no the strip is for power car's just like seeing what i could do.

  9. im confused with this comment?what sort of Type R's are you pulling away from?

Civic's type r's, they would catch up but the weren't pulling away, this was in the wet though, set the 15.6 in the dry later on in the day,

  10. that's a hell of a lot of work and money to spend. For one using the emerald with flyby wire throttle is very difficult and I think there is only one company that produce an emulator for the throttle to work. I know that is specifically designed for track use only and not reccomended or tested on road cars.

The emerald k3 is soon if not now superseeded by the k6.

As for your mapping comment. If it was easy everyone would do it. I've been learning with my car for nearly a year now and it's still not right. I guarantee if your doing it for the first time you will need help from someone who knows what there doing. As the emerald has no knock control, you have to know exactly what your doing with ignition timing or it's really not worth the time and effort you put in.

Tbh, the set up for the emerald is different for forced induction and for tbs so to be honest it's really not worth doing untill the base for the need for the standalone is in place.

Kool kool, Just wondered if i could get a gain ive aquired a second hand k3 at not alot of cost so was bored see what i could do. didn't even think bout fly by wire, supose ill just wait till i have the cash, As for mapping even the best have to learn so why can't i?? Not saying its bang bang easy but if u sit n put ur mind to it study the stuff it won't be that bad.

  11. Mapping costs would make it very expensive to do.

Mapping puts fear into people, see if u sit read and understand whats it about what needs to be what and when its kinda easy. Its like wiring people get scared and don't touch it but if u know what ur doing and u understand its easy. If someone else can do it how can't i?

Only thing is a rolling road which i lack of

Btw im a diagnostic technican and fully qualified mechanic, so its just another learning process

  12. For the peeps running Emerald k3 ecu, Caspergti is the only one i can find the now.

I was wondering could i wire up the ECU the now, set it up and use the car till winter when hopefully ill strip it and rebuild the topend with the Jenveys Itb's then get it mapped for them???

    Reason for this is

1, May change my mind and charge it, Depends on me getting a house or not,

2, May get a house and wont be able to do the ITB conversion atall,

I was wondering this because i was just goin to get it mapped but have read the standard ECU has limits, So could i get more out off the engine with the Emerald K3?

I know it sounds alot of bother but im a complicated guy and kinda want to see how much i can get out of the standard engine before dramatic no goin back changes.

Thanks for any help that i recive on this matter,

    David

  13. You will have to spend a few thousand to get low 14's from a GTI

Thats the plan.lol. im not sure if i wana do it to the loop or pull the old old audi out the scrap pile n spend cash on it? the loop is to fun though n people don't expect it.

  14. sounds about right mate.

My old Glanza had a full 5zigen exhaust, induction kit and gutted cat and did 15.2s. Was rr'd at Dastek before the gutted cat at 139.8bhp. Also it had an lsd fitted.

My old punto gt turbo also did a 14.6 but it was crazy lol.

See to be honest i wana try n get low 14's but it seems a bigstep.

Still pulling away from type r's  Raced a mk6 gti and sat beside for a wee bit.lol then it pulled in front buy bought 4/5 car lengths he got a bad start though i think,

  15. Hey peeps there was a thread a week ago bout a Lupo GTI doing the the 1/4 mile in 14 sec sumthing (can't find the thread for sum reason).

Just i was at crail yesterday and as hard as i could the best time i got was 15.6 that was in the dry in standin water earlyer in the day ma best was 16.8,

My loop gti has a Raceland mani, sports cat and cat back, pipercross induction kit and a caf? also had the back seats out. was also full serviced last week plugs n filter, oil n filter?

Just wondered if this is about right

    Thank you for any info

    David
