  1. Anyone? It's actually jumping out of gear itself now and grinding?
  2. Hi all. Got a bit of a problem with the gearbox on a 2002 1.0 s. Basically a couple of weeks ago we had the gearbox oil level looked at as was struggling to get into gear and making a small whine across the gearbox. They said they took around 2 liters out to get it level with the filler plug on the side! What we think is the garage who did the clutch in Aberystwyth last year filled it up through a breather pipe at the top and completely filled it!!! Ever since gear changes have been lovely and smooth and the whine across the box had gone. However. As soon as you put the car in 5th, and it only happens in 5th, it sounds like a jet liner when you press the accelerator. It goes when you let go. Now I assume its the gearbox purely because it only happens in 5th and it's happened ever since they took the oil out. I can't imagine it's too low on oil as this would surely affect the whole box, so would this mean it could be a bearing? Any help is appreciated
  3. I didn't realise it had 2 to be honest. Silly mistake there. I'm not 100% sure to be honest. We only know due to plugging my obd reader in when the engine management light came on. Will double check again when she's back for Easter holidays to see if it tells me. Unless anybody knows a way she could easily check it herself up there?
  4. Please can somebody help me with this. My girlfriend's arosa needs a new cat. It's a job i'm going to attempt myself. I've looked on the eurocarparts sight and on ebay and 2 different types have come up. There's the one thats inline underneath the car, like a classic cat. Or there's the type that comes directly off the manifold, the 4 pipes into 1 one. Which one do I need? For info: 2002 Seat Arosa S 1.0L I believe it's a mk2 and if it helps determine which type, the engine is the type with two square air filters not the one with the large round one
  5. Hi all. Soon I'm going to have to attempt to change a wheel bearing on my girlfriends arosa. I'm pretty capable at stuff like this but I do like to have a Haynes manual available just to make sure I'm doing stuff right. Also in the future no doubt I'm going to have to do jobs I'm not very confident with. Now I know that there isn't an arosa manual and a lupo one has only been short listed. But what I want to know is if a polo one would work? As I imagine that for most jobs such as the wheel bearings are going to be the same. Finally if a polo one would work which version would I need. She has a mk2 2002 arosa so would it be as simple as getting a 2002 polo one or would it be better to get an older model version? Many thanks
  6. It's not mine but I believe that's actually one of my old teachers from Droitwich haha
  7. Just to help explain what I mean here is the catalytic converter I mean: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220913066724?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  8. Hi all, My girlfriends arosa has had a problem for a while with its engine light being on. We took it to a garage a while ago who said that the error code stated it was the catalytic converter. Now when we called the AA out they said the connection for the code reader had no power in it. So we've decided to go to another garage and get a second opinion. But purely on the basis that it is the catalytic converter, I have managed to find one for around £130. And this being an 02 plate arosa means it needs to have the newer type of catalytic converter, that looks like it comes from the manifold? Has 4 holes and goes into 1. Rather than the type that's online with the exhaust and is just a straight pipe. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Now I'm a fairly competent mechanic and I can get help as well. But does anyone know how much of a pig of a job it is to replace these types of catalysts? I have done the straight pipe ones before but never these. So if anyone has any sort of instructions etc. that would be such a huge help. Thank you all in advance
  9. Thanks guys. And yeah I did look on euro car parts before coming on here but it offered me both! Haha
  10. Ok the number she's sent is ......
  11. Hi all. When she's back from uni for a weekend I will be servicing my girlfriends 2002 seat arosa 1.0S. The problem however is knowing which air filter she has. When looking on the Internet there are 2 types as I'm sure you know. The flat one and the round ones. Obviously I can't take it apart to check from here, and my girlfriend won't even know where to start. Is there an easier way to find out whether from engine code or just the shape/style of the engine? Any help much appreciated thanks
