HELP!!! What the FCUK??? Rev Counter problems

Recommended Posts

Hmmm.. I'm very confused, (angry) angry.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> I noticed this the other night while out driving. For some reason my rev counter is incorrect the needle is around 2500rpm to high. Even with the engine turned off and keys removed it still indicates 2500rpm Right through the rev range the needle is 2500 ahead of what it should be. It went all the way around to the 90 degree mark on the temperature gauge last night.

Performance has not been affected and the engine still apears to be runnig the way it should be and still idles as before but the indication is totally wrong.

Any help would be greatly appriechiated.

Sam.

the clocks need to be removed it would seem from what you have said that the needle may have moved on the spindle, the clocks pull up over once the binnacle has been removed

1. pull the outer binnacle forward out of the clips

2. the inner binnacle is held in with 3 torx bits

3 the clocks have 3 torx along the top

4 disconect the battery wait 30mins, unplug the purple and the blue multiplug

5 dissasemble the rear from the clocks again torx bits until it seperates open

6 gently pull the needle out using the centre piece as a place to grip

7 place back on in its correct position.

hope this helps
