Right then folks, we have a 1.4 e that has a misfire on cyl 4 I have had it for sale cheap as have had little, to no time to fix, had it advertised with all problems disclosed, but no interest. So instead I'm going to fix it and put it back up for sale. I have diagnosed it as low compression on cyl 4, I have been told lupos can suffer from sticking exhaust valves. So to fix, its head off, relap valves back together! nice and easy!!!

So what I'm after is any advise on bits that may catch me out, or that's worth replacing while on. I am by no means a professional mechanic, but have been heavily into old VW's for a long time, so a 'simple head off' shouldn't be too much of an issue. Have carried out a couple of engine conversions between me and my brother. A 2l 16v into his MK1 rocco, and a number of engines in my polo ranging from the standard GT to a 1.4 golf block, then finally as it stands now a G40 conversion.

Between us we are relatively useful, but more so on the older cars. I do have the Polo Haynes manual, which I'm told is the 1 for lupo engines. So just a general who's done it, anything silly we could miss, anything silly that's easy to do!!

Cheers folks

Rich
