biggrim Posted October 2, 2012 Report Share Posted October 2, 2012 Hey folks,finally got all the bits and bobs together for replacing the piston rings on my poorly GTi but I have a (potentially stupid) question.There are 2 main rings for the top and the three other rings (2 thin & 1 squiggly) for the bottom end of the piston. My question relates to the 2 upper rings. Each ring will only go into one slot on the piston due to the thickness of them but on the ring with a slight rib on the edge, what way up does it go it? I have read a few pages on piston rings and they all say that the side that has a marking on it (in this case PC) faces upward.Can someone in the know please confirm what way up this ring goes before I potentiall put them in the wrong way?Many thanks in advance,Graeme Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
