GTI brake light condensation

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, ever since fitting my GTI spoiler i've noticed condense inside the light unit. It still functions fine, but I am wondering if over time the connections will corrode and fail, as is the fate of many of these designs.

I'm wondering if the light unit simply pulls off from the front, as I could then dry it up and reseal with some clear silicone or something. Or does the spoiler need taking off completely? If that's the case mine's not gonna be easy, as it's bonded on :/

Sorry for the low quality, just tried to illustrate what i'm waffling on about

Yes, common fault and yes it will eventually fail.

Connectors corode and\or the bulbs fail. Some haveremoved, dried and refitted with sealant and are hoping to get by with it, but I recommend buying a spare from LupoBoz if he can still get one. I paid £25 for mine a year or so ago.

To get it off you need to remove the spoiler.
