Dave!
clutch/ pedal box has been giving up for a little while now.and its gone tonight unfortunatly.dip the clutch and theres no tension. just bare nothing.Think its the pressure plate and the bloke from the AA said it might be.are these easy to replace? and are they relitivly cheap ? veemurren
cable could have just snapped mate..this could be because your clutch is heavy as clutches tend to get heavy with age
Dave!
cables still intact
Cooper_GTI
If the cavle is still moving the arm on the gearbox then i'm guessing it's time for a clutch. It could maybe be the prongs on the pressure plate that have snapped or just lost all their spring. And dont bother putting just a pressure plate on it. Do the whole clutch!

Cooper_GTI
£210 is a good price. I'd be charging £300 inc parts for a clutch on a GTI!
Dave!
so where i thought i would be getting a good deal, i have ended up in the sh*t.got my car back today it will not rev above 2000 revs.had the engine case off and the throttle valve isnt opening.also ran it on the vag com and this came up with various fault codesone was throttle body not responding and the egr valve had an error.so we are confused
Dave!
so this is how my day actually started off after leaving the car over night.it wouldnt even start this morning.turned out after looking around that they had butchered the connect as to which the gearbox sends a signal to the ecu.it looked like thisafter five minutes of trying to get the bloody thing off.showed us that the garage had infact bent one of the pins, causing the ecu to run in a slave mode.we have now bodged it for now so the car runs, but theres still an error code with the egr valve coming up on vag-com and the engine managment light is on.when u clear the fault it comes back straight away.
