Make: Volkswagen Lupo 1.4 Sport

MOT: August 2011

Tax: August 2011

Mileage: Approaching 89000 miles (creeping up steadily due to daily use)

Modifications: TA Technix Coilovers (fitted at 74500 miles, just after I purchased the car in September 2009), pressed German plates

Unfortunately, the time has come to sell my Lupo Sport!

Selling due to a new job with significantly more mileage and the need for a bigger car. I will be sad to see it go, the car has never caused me any major bother in the 19 months I’ve owned it and was perfect when I was doing short commutes and the occasional motorway trip.

Good bits:

* Full service history – Volkswagen service history up to July 2004 (43209 miles); other service history from July 2004 onwards; last serviced by myself January 2011 (new oil, plugs, filters, throttle body cleaned)

* Substantial amount of paperwork (previous MOTs, receipts etc.)

* Cambelt last changed at 63280 miles

* Red “Tim-Tom” interior

* Alloys, fog lights, centre-exit exhaust

* Lupo GTi alternator fitted February 2010

* New battery fitted February 2010

* Offside electric window mechanism fitted September 2009

* Front offside ABS sensor fitted August 2010

* Pedal box re-welded in February 2004 (33386 miles) – common problem with these and costly to repair

* Coilovers and plates are only modifications

* New rear offside tyre fitted at 83000 miles-ish (September 2010)

Bad bits:

* Central locking issue – when driver’s door is locked, passenger side door unlocks again – has to be locked manually – I have lived with it

* New brake discs and pads needed – slight shaking under breaking which has only become apparent in the last month or so

* Very slight knocking at front nearside – suspected wheel bearing but has probably got to that time where the coilovers have been on long enough to warrant new bushes anyway – haven’t got round to sorting this out

* Scrape down passenger’s side (bought the car with this, have treated it accordingly to stop corrosion)- I'll get some close-ups of this

* Minor battle scars as you would expect of an 11-year old car

* Exhaust shielding bent after running over fox, vibrates very slightly at low revs – no damage to exhaust system

* Paint flaking on rear spoiler (fitted by a previous owner)

* Covers for rear seatbelt sockets missing (back seats rarely used so haven’t addressed the issue)

* Front wheel arch liner cracked from running low i.e. the massive speed bump coming into work!!!!!

* Rear washer jet not working – common problem - haven’t bothered to sort this

The car is mechanically spot-on, regularly serviced and only premium fuel (Shell V-Power) used in my ownership. No expense has been spared with any mechanical parts, only niggling problems exist which do not affect the engine or overall reliability of the car.

Car currently has a sub/ amp fitted – car will be sold without stereo or sub/ amp, leads for sub/ amp can be left in if desired.

Pictures are from September 2009 – just after I had bought the car and fitted the plates and coilovers. The car looks pretty much the same now i.e. I have not scratched/ damaged the bodywork whatsoever and the paint still comes up great after a good wash and wax.

More recent photos to follow...

Price: £1600 – I believe this is a fair price considering the minor bits and pieces that need doing but I am willing to negotiate – no silly offers please!

This is a rare, largely unmolested model in great mechanical condition with relatively low mileage – would make a great project or even a trusty daily.

I will consider a deal for a VAG 1.9TDi (Golf IV, Bora, Fabia, Leon).
