oryt guys. just a quick question, i am wundering how i remove my steering wheel without popping airbag, as i have to fit a new set of indicator storks. if any1 can give me a quick run down it would be a great help..... cheers.

Hi mate,

If you remove the negative terminal on the battery, leave the car for 15 minutes to cut any power to the air bag.

Turn the wheel 90 degrees if you feel behind the wheel (behind the horn buttons) there a hole, in the hole there is a spring clip, you can use a flat head screw driver to to push the clip and release the one side of the airbag.

Its best jam something under the bag to prevent it from reclipping, turn the wheel 180 degrees and repeat on the other side. The air bag will pop off then just remove the airbag plug from the back if ut. Its quite tricky and took me about 20 minutes after some cut knuckles and swearing lol.

With the air bag removed there is a single bolt holding the steering wheel on. undo this and remove the wheel.

You will probably need to have the airbag light resetting with VAGCOM or something similar, mine stayed on on my GTI but reset fine.
