Caza
I brought a new gear knob for my 1.4 lupo non sport and then i tried fitting it this morning but i looks like i can only force it off and i'm scared of snapping something or something. Anyone help me?
Guest Lauryn
I just undone the gaitor, gripped the gearknob, and pulled it upwards, mine popped off fine. Theres basically a little plastic stick which it fixes on to from memory, so when its off put the new one over and push down, and it will connect. I hope that makes sense!Lauryn

RobG
Alright, i'll give it a go.Isnt the gaitor attached to the knob though?Yes.lift the gaitor off the base, pull it up around the knob.Look at the base of the knob where it joins the metal part of the gear lever, there's a metal clip that covers the plastic end. you need to loosen off that clip before you can remove the knob. I think you're supposed to get a new one each time, but if you're careful with a flat bladed screwdriver you can loosen off one side of it enough to remove the knob (by pulling straight up) then use a set of pliers/mole grips to reclamp the clip.I think, it was a while since i did mine. gordonbrown
so can you reconnect the gaitor to any new knob? or does it have to compatible?
