ludo
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the following symptoms:Foolishly left interior light on overnight and ran battery flat - pepped it back up again with a nice long charge, but after about a week there's not enough power to turn the starter motor.Battery was new in June so I don't think it's that - could it be alternator failing to charge properly, or something else draining power even with the car stationary?Any thoughts/experiences I'd be grateful to hear about. BTW it's a 2001 Y GTIThankyou!
1 Litre Screamer
It sounds like you have killed the battery to be honest, once it lost power from the light eating the electrickery the connection was still there and it will have bent the plates, killing the battery. Get some juice in it and then run it to a good car spares place that can put their tester on it and let you know if its the battery or alternator. ludo
OK thanks for your advice. I've noticed that the battery I bought as a replacement is slightly less beefy - perhaps struggling in the winter weather?
