ok just copying a little bit but wots the best revs to change at in a sport, some friends say its best at around 5000rpm but its at 4000rpm wen all hell breaks loose in the sport so thats only 1000rpm to play with, isnt it best to go a little further??

Peak power output is at 6000rpm on the 100bhp Sport, so you definitely don't want to be changing before then.

Max torque is at 4400rpm - a good guide is to find the revs that if you change gear at that point, the new gear will be at around 4400rpm. If you see what I mean. So changing from second to third, you want to 'land' at around 4400rpm.

But you really don't want to change before the peak power, whatever happens. I'd guess at around a 6200rpm change point, but that is only a guess.
