ArosaSportLSD
Hi there! For those who have installed a Quaife LSD in their cars, would you please describe which are the side effects, apart from better traction in straight line and corner exit, in terms of handling behaviour? I know other FWD cars fitted with this kind of diff, while cornering and accelerating, send more power to the outer wheel and tend to rotate / 'oversteer' a bit, induce a yaw moment or pulling the nose / tighten the steering line into the bends, which seems effective but also, and more important for me, fun relative to driving dynamics. Those FWD + LSD cars I refer to as exhibiting this driving manners are more powerful, with turbocharged torquier engines than Lupo GTI or Arosa Sport. And I don't know if this difference is big enough to make the car rotate or not while feeding throttle. It does seem that what I'm describing is pure logic in theory, but I'd like to have feedback from those who have put it in practice. I think suspension balance / stiffness, tyre grip vs torque should make difference in terms of a bit of 'powerslide' while cornering somewhat hard. It would be nice and fun to make this little car more playful with a bit of power on oversteer. Good thing is that these cars are about 850 kg and short 2,32 m of wheelbase, light and nimble, so I expect them to rotate or yaw with LSD and certain suspension setup. In other respect, would you say that the Quaife have induced in your car torque steer, the steering pulling side to side, while accelerating hard? It doesn't seem to be a powerful FWD car to exhibit this parasitic effect in the steering wheel, but who knows. Thanks for paying attention and for the useful info of this forum.
