Differential bearings pressure rings

Recommended Posts

Having my gearbox out I thought it was best to replace all the seals (the selector shaft one was badly leaking). When I took off the axle flanges the bronze pressure rings fell in pieces (one is broken in 2, the other in 3). It's no 17 in the diagram and arrow pointing to them in the picture. I'm pretty confused because I can't quite understand their role, and new parts are coming after New Year but I would like to have the car ready before. Do you think these parts could do their job if I carefully put the pieces there? They seem to only keep the bearing centered and maybe they will do the job like this.
