  1. not sure where he got the rings i,ll find out for you and let you know cheers
  2. i have a set for sale as i got a set then got some with the head gasket kit , £20 inc postage i was quoted £3.30 each at german and swedish .
  3. the rings cost me £100 a mate did the deed cost me £220 labour then when we picked it up about an hour later something got stuck in the bottom pulley and shredded the alternator belt wrapped it round crankshaft pulley , in turn stopped the bottom end and typical the timing belt slipped a couple of teeth and 16 bent valves , so that was another £200 ish to have repaired , but he did change the stem seals at the same time as the rings . but i,m glad to say all is well now .
  4. it sounds like rings to me i have just had the daughters car give us the same problem , totally solved now new rings and new valves later .
  5. cheers didnt think so but my mate has a 1ltr hes going to take the cover off that and make it fit , i thought about another engine but with just having this 1 re ringed it would have been stupid to give up on it now , the valves have been done its cost another £150 in parts no labour , so hopefully alls good this time . cheers
  6. my daughters 16 v 1.4 has just had a set of rings all was well for a few hrs then we suspect a foreign body had got caught in the alternator belt shredded it then wrapped itself round the crankshaft and yes you guessed it the bottom end stopped but the top end carried on hence bending 14 valves should there be a cover over the belt . to prevent this happening again ? cheers
