  1. Hi Guys,

After a good few years i think it's finally time to say goodbye to my Lupo :(

The other day i was driving along minding my own business when all of a sudden my airbags have blown after a sharp jolt and bang. It materialises I've hit a raised manhole cover after not being properly sign posted (that's another story)

I've priced up the cost of getting everything fixed and at this time it's just not worth the hassle, It's a second car so i'm just going to cut my losses.

The car itself is MOT'd and runs fine, as stated both airbags have been deployed, i have replaced the seat belt but the light is still on the dash. The car is lowered on FK coilovers also.

I would not expect anyone to repair this to a roadworthy condition, rather than getting it scrapped for peanuts I am gauging interest to see if any other Lupo owners can use parts or has the time and facilities to break it by themselves. As stated I don't have the time to break it myself so this is £150 for the entirety of the car.

Have a read through my thread to see what it once was, any questions drop me an email.

    Thanks

  3. basically replaced the bonnet catch after i had to break the grill off to get in

anyways theres a wire that runs into the catch area with a sensor on the end.it looks like a pressure switch/sensor as it has a metal contact and a moving metal arm...

any ideas what this is and where it should be???

  4. ok so i found myself reading a few gti diaries, i think it was gti mikes that had a similar posting, basically the g60 carrier was used in a new ibiza, its the same just abit newer so cleaner.... anyways is the link below to what are essentially g60 calipers and carriers

  5. also just read the diary from start to finish and so much thought has gone into it, i personally love the mods youve made pal, you should be proud.

i envy the voltmeter however...my alternator has just died and it would have been a lifesaver if i could predict that happening :(

keep up the good work i hope you keep it!!

  6. Yeah I dont know why it wouldnt come on - has it ever come on?

last battery that i recently changed...it came on when driving...then everytime i started it and the car ran the light was on.when i left it running the light was on and sometimes flashed and an intermittent buzzer sounded for it then to stop.

when i changed to the new battery...it has never come on and buzzer never sounded...however when i put my ignition on(when all the lights illuminate) it now doesnt illuminate...to which im not too sure if it should

  7. Test the alternator output.

When you try and start it and it wont, can you put the lights and blowers on and stuff? Does it turn over or is it totally dead?

i need to test it really yep

sometimes yep other times no....it seems the battery is sometimes charged/ dead

im think either alternator is working when it feels like it..however my car once started runs fine! or maybe a loose/bad connection for earth cable!

i just can really see it being my alternator otherwise it would cut out straight away

and also i think the battery light not illuminating has something to do with it

  8. started last week, basically battery light started flashing and then wouldnt start after leaving overnight.

when i bumped it however it would start and even stay running

a few days later the battery was that flat i had to jump it and again even when i took the cables off it ran fine, my thoughts being alternator is fine and is running car however battery not holding the charge.so a new battery was purchased and everything fine until tonight.

this time the battery light did not come on,lights went out and stereo cut off however car was running fine.luckily i was minutes away from home so pulled up and switched engine off.upon trying to start again battery wouldnt turn engine over... so i bumped it and again car started and ran fine however this time all lights stereo working fine and this is within a few seconds of starting the car!

the only thing unusual for what i can think off is when igntion is switched on..the battery light never luminates...and since i changed my battery has never even lit up?]

    any ideas guys
