Cheers thats the explanation that I think I was looking for - need to follow up on a couple of cars I am looking at. Thinking a TDI is a bit more discrete for a a runabout rather than GTi particularly for station etc parking. But the GTi does look a lot better and no doubt goes better but thats a whole different discussion. Thanks

New to club - contemplating buying a 1.4TDI and was wondering if any of you could confirm when a Lupo registered in 3/03 should have its belt and w/pump etc changed ? Sorry - did a search should have done that first. Looks like a common question - with answers of 40K and 4 yrs (whichever comes first and thereafter)
