  1. So if I take a line directly from the battery to a secondary cigarette lighter, will that provide me with a 12v feed? Presumably I would need to take both +ive and -ive..... Would the -ive take care of the earthing? Cheers.
  2. Does anybody know about how to go about this in the right way...? (You'll have to bear with me on this, it's pretty hard to explain) I've got an iPod and want to wire it to the headunit, thats fine, I've got the cable which plugs into the back of the Gamma HU. However, I also want it to charge.... I'm going to get a Belkin in-car charger for the iPod which also features a 3.5mm jack line-out. Therefore, when i plug in the iPod, it will charge from the cigarette lighter whilst playing sound through the dock line-out (which feeds the Belkin line-out, which is hooked up to the back of the Gamma HU). So, in a bit of a messy way, here i have the iPod connected (with one lead) to a power source (the cigarette lighter) and playing sound into my Gamma system. Is there a way I can tap into a power source behind the HU so I don't have wire all over the show? Maybe an added cig lighter which the Belkin could plug right into....? I could then simly hide it all behind the dash and have one charging/line-out cable in the glove, which would connect to the iPod.... I'd really appreciate any help. Cheers guys. 3. Hi This is a bit of a random query to be honest. I do quite a bit of walking and take the dog in the car a lot. I've been looking for ages for them paper mats that valeting guys leave in the footwells aswell as the plastic bags which covers the seats. Does anybody know where I can get hold of these? (I understand they'll probably be wholesale only) Also, I dont want the back getting dirty from the dog. Does anyone know of any custom kits for the Lupo which cover all the back seats (preferably plastic) and protect the interior from dirt? Again, I know it maybe an unanswerable question, but if anybody can point me in the right direction or even point me to some other forums that specialise in car cleaning (I havn't found any yet!), I'd be grateful. Cheers guys.
  4. I know this has been mentioned before but: 1) Is there any where that sells german-style pressed registration plates? 2) Are they legal? (probably not, I know) Cheers
  5. Alright people Love my new GTI but not had much luck with it in its first week unfortunately... - Firstly, the first day (I got it, I scratched the rear wheel arch reversing it into the garage (after never scratching my golf once and driving it for 2 years!). Secondly, I got a nail through my tire on friday afternoon and got stranded in Manchester city centre for an hour till the recovery guy came. And thirdy, today I parked up a kirb, slid down a tiny bit and scuffed the alloy. - Although its not much, it been gettin to me so much :x Has anybody got any suggestions for sorting the scratch or the alloy scuff? I've heard of a stick you can buy from VW which you rub over scratches to colour them in..... I think the alloy's a lost cause though...(correct me if I'm wrong) - Cheers
  6. Is there any way of getting the gamma head unit back in easily? I've took it out to fit a remote lead and RCA but when I slide it back in, it leaves about 1cm overhang and just wont go any futher... I think it might be becasuse of the wiring loom (being in the way) so is there any way of getting behind the dash and pulling the loom back as I push the HU back in (so there is no slack left to get in the way)... Or is this not the problem? Has anybody else had an experience similarto this?
  7. Saw a nice silver gti at the Portwood roundabout in Stockport. Clocked each other and smiled with pride.. haha
  8. Alright lads, I'm from Manchester too... well stockport just outside. Where abouts are you 2 from?
  9. Yeah snoopstah's right. For this reason, my GFs dad wont do it. He gave me a rough price of how much it might cost to get done which was around £80.
  10. Get an independant autolocksmith to do one. My girlfriends dad is an autolocksmith and he stocks the official VW flip keys. I'll get a price off him tonight and post it here because I want one for my Lupo....
  11. Where did you get your blockers from? And how much? Coz 150Hz and below suits me - my sub can handle upto 200Hz. Cheers
  12. As some of you might know, I have the standard Gamma system in my Lupo and have added (or am adding) a Sony active 8" sub. But, as Tigz said in previous posts, the signal is amplified within the head unit so I cant cut the bass from the component speakers and have the sub doing all the low stuff. However, I've heard of Bass Blockers which are apparently (from some brief googling) passive components which you implement into the +ive line of the speakers you wish to cut the bass from. They block (or reduce) bass in the signal from differing frequencies downwards. This sounds like a good idea if I could find any of these 'bass blockers' which could block out any of the 200Hz (or below) as my sub could handle that (its frequency response is `50-200Hz`). I've seen ones which can block 250Hz and below but then I'd be missing the `200-250Hz` range wouldn't I? If anybody's got any info on these or any suggestions on how I could use them I'd be grateful.... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Cheers!
