  1. Dude, i'll check the stock list come Monday when i'm back in work and see if I can source you one from our own stock, and if there's any joy, you can get your deposit back from the dealer (Corkills??) wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  2. in simple terms, and im sure its been said before in this post...........

When you buy a new car, you are not necessarily buying a 'new' car.

eg. two identical cars bought on the 1st August 2004 on a '54 plate aren't necessarily the same age: one may have a June 2004 build, and will more than likely be the car model that is selling pretty well, as the factory is turning over stock pretty fast.

Conversely, the other car may have been a slow selling model, and may have been in storage for 'x' amount of months, even years! so the car's ecu thinks its old even though it hasnt even been registered yet

(e.g. I sold a Mercedes ML500 to a customer for August 2004 registration & delivery last year that was over a year and a half old)

And its also a myth that at PDi this is all reset: You'll be surprised how little is actually done at PDi, mainly because very little is needed to be done!

Hope this explains it all to yer, and listen to Tigz: reset the light, and get your car serviced on mileage or time, whichever occurs first.

It also may be worth checking your oil level aswell, as it has been known that when oil levels are low, the knock sensors on the engine pick it up and this can trigger the service light to come on early, but I am not sure this necessarily applys to our little Lupos!!

  3. just been outside, and this one is definitely bolted in, or is restricted in some way, shape or form sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

i dont know if it has been worked on in the past, but its only a year an a bit old, so i dont know whether it may have been in for any warranty work on it in the past and they have bolted a new unit in from the back, cos this aint goin anywhere sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

  4. just tried that, tried to get the head unit out, seemed like it was bolted at the back?

tried to get the CD player out, and the cable was attached and it didnt pull out far enough for me to take it off!

    Any ideas?

  5. Just picked up my loop from my mates house this mornin, and went to turn the VW Gamma head unit on, and nothing happened.

Its got a single cd underneath it, and for some weird reason, this is still lighting up?

Only problem now is that although the car is off and the key is out of the ignition, this light on the CD player is staying on. And, because the head unit above seems knackered, its playing nothing. It even stays on with no CD in it.

Just got the car home, and locked it up for the night. I got this feeling that after I come back from London after this weekend coming, i aint going anywhere in it cos the battery will be flat, and i havent got any soddin release keys to get the damn thing out :x

Ive even tried going via the fuse box, and pulled out both fuses for both units, and this mysterious light is staying on :?:

I am loathed to disconnect the battery, even tho i might have to in a bit, but does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? or can I improvise with anything else to use as release keys lol

  6. I wish a VW dealership could source me 1 x BBS RA 433 14" rim.

    I would love them for ever for it sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

    any better dude?

  7. I can never make it to the stealers becauase of work, and im in desperate need of some `top-up` oil for my TDi. If i am buying aftermarket oil, what grade am I looking for, or do I have to use the VW stuff? sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

    Thanks

    D.

  8. dude, well done, u should love it, and you probably got a better buy than a TDi anyway, cos they are well overpriced ( i got one and im waitin for it to pay me back lol laugh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )

and silver loops are cool 8)

  9. not noticed that one either

Is a black GTI about, have come off the M53 with him as he's gone towards Brimstage and me into Bebington.

dude, that might have been me in my black TDi goin towards this girls house on the Chester High Road....

    then again it might have not been lol! laugh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

  10. nfbr....i really think youre going way over the top....its just a reverse light for ****s sake, its not really a life changing event now is it?!

anyway, most vws looks like they have 2 but only have one that works (same with foglamps) although its easy to link up the other side to match.

Also, this stuff about spanish cars being inferior to german built cars....what a load of *****, its nice to beleive that cos youve got a german built one its somehow better but nah, its ****.... the cars are still built using the same tolerances, the same machines and robots, just that the people that work in one factoy will go home and eat tapas, while the people in the other factory will go home and eat sausages.

i gotta agree with this guy, yet again lol. Just chill and let them sort it out. There aint no use flappin about it too much, not unless you can blag something free off the dealer which cant hurt

  11. 2002 plate GTTDI Proto type (1 off)

Simon from near Glasgow, but well travelled!

so its a TDI with mods then? or is it actually a GTTDI 'prototype' as u call it m8?

not knockin it m8, as its a lovely piece of work u done, but its a TDI with a GTI kit, few engine mods with a dash of pimpin thrown in from where im lookin 8)

It'd be like me callin a Mk4 TDI PD 150 Golf with an R32 kit, with a chip and some nitrous, an , errrrrr, an R19 prototype, which sounds a bit silly IMHO'

Sorry, dunno if its just me, but im just not into badgin/naming cars what they aint

oh yeah, mine's Black '53 plate TDi Sport, with some dished brocks on and not much else, from the Wirral, Cheshire or Merseyside whichever i prefer on a particular day biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

(over the water from the pool  )

  12. got the same motor as you but a 53' plater....

used to be a Sales Exec at VW before I worked for Mercedes, and your car should, like all used cars gone through a used car appraisal where the likes of brake light bulbs etc should have been picked up and replaced. If it aint the bulbs, go straight to the fuse box, and check that everyting is ok there with the fuses for the lights gone. Also, get it sorted as soon as even if you have to do it yourself cos the car aint safe to be on the road without 'em.

But, make an issue with the sales manager of the dealership over it, and make sure someone's ass gets kicked over it, and you might see yourself with some lovely freebies to keep you from kickin' an screaming smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

With regards to the MOT; wasn't yours a 2002 Lupo, so shoudn't need an MOT yet, unless they've promised you one when it is due?

All in all m8, dont blame the car tho, cos these sound like things that could simply go on any car for very simple reasons m8, so dont let it ruin what could many years of enjoyable motoring. Mine's a beaut m8, and ive been used to the ol' VW build quality me!

  13. i love diesels smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> i'm seduced by the torque and pokeyness smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

In the end i managed to get a really good deal.

  14. Nice one m8, i thought when i got mine that it was gonna be silver but i was told wrong and it was black, i.e. pretty much identical to yours m8, and im lovin it too biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Well done m8 @ lol at the no moddin, you know you'll be at it as soon as smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    D.

  15. cheers again guys biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

following on from this, ive already got a nice set of dished brock's to throw on it straight away as soon as ive got it, but i then will be desperate to lower it further....

My question is, that it is my first ever car that is in the manufacturers warranty, and I want to know basically what i will be allowed to do to my car that wont invalidate the warranty?? Obviously, aftermarket parts fitted can't be covered themsselves, but does having no OE items fitted to your car invalidate the warranty at all?

Or is it only if you modify areas that have ended up in 'failure' during the warranty that can be attributed to your modification?

Your help will be muchos appreciated!

  16. QUOTE(aberdeen_dj)
I do a lot of town driving so normally get 300 miles out of the tank and that is with being a bit lead footed too.

Normally £22 to fill her up but thats also because I run it to the red line.

Diesel gets your hands all smelly!

BTW sounds like a good price for the car and yuou might get a slap in the face if you ask for anything less than that, but you can always try!

i got it for a touch cheaper like I hoped, and didnt get a slap in the process...... result! biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  17. QUOTE(Altern8)
i paid £5500 for my tdi 2001 plate 26000 miles 1 owner fwvsh
