Noooooooooo hope its not too bad Pete.

Good stuff.
It is a tad expensive but a little goes a long way and you can use it on all metals like exhaust and chrome badges n trims etc
-
Yeah I just meant what did you do/use.
Very nice mate.
Yeah they sure are, mine are sealed with Blackfire All Metal Sealant so makes cleaning very easy and it sheets water like crazy.
-

Nice one.
The rotary is a lot smoother than the DA but as you say the DA is safer but when using the rotary aslong as the machine is kept moving, pad flat to the panel all should be well. Providing paint readings have been taken prior to machining.

Yes the clearcoat can oxidise it's probably a bit more visible on the red paint though.
You'll see the oxidisation here in an X shape.
-
No worries mate keep me posted, mind if you need any advice you know where I am.

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated

Thanks Dan,
Those swirls look like the ones I had on my car too before correction.
That also looks like theres a fair bit oxidisation in there, that will cut out but will probably take a few hits with the paint being so hard.
Thanks for the PM, I've replied

A dedicated paint cleaner ie Werkstat Acrylic Prime will deep clean the paint and lift the dirt from the pores..
A car shampoo only washes the car.
Hope that helps?
If you have any more Q's feel free to ask.

I read that thread several hours ago, and still all I can see is red squares...

No worries guys, I'll get a write up posted on tonight hopefully.
Thanks

Nice one
Depends on how dirty the pad gets, if the wheels are oxidised at all you may get the muck from that on the pads but if not then I'd just give the pad a spur with a Megs Triple Duty brush or a toothbrush if you dont have the megs brush.
On another note, We have just finished fully correcting my GTI so if you want to see some of the progress shots hop on over to the facebook page.
I'll be doing a full write up on it aswell.
Thanks, Aaron

Yes Pete they'll be fine.
I'd start with the orange polishing pad and if the results arent good enough step up to the white cutting pad
Let us know how you get on please?
If you need any advice on anything detailing related just ask, same goes for other members.
No worties at all Pete that's what I'm here for
-
Sorry Pete the colours of the 3M pads refer to what does what etc.
Green - compounding/ cutting
Yellow - polishing
Blue - finishing
I reccommend Raceglaze Alutech metal polish and also highly rate Belgom Alu.
If your getting the spot pads you'll need a 75mm backing plate. I'll have a dig around for you mate see what other things you may need
-
Like on a das6-pro??
Hi Pete,
Yes a DAS6 PRO would be ok.
Id imagine a pad with a rough texture like 3M green compounding pad would have to be used. It would probably need refined too the 3M green pad may put little marks in however its not something ive tried n tested so will awitt feedback from you guys first.

Red GTI's are pretty rare.
Mine was the only GTI for sale in Scotland when I bought it.

If you machined the car with Menzerna then there was no need for SRP. The car would be LSP ready afterwards so you could go right ahead and apply Z Titanium
