    GTi remap

Looking at getting a remap for my GTi. Would it be better to do it before or after I get an induction kit, manifold and system? And what gains would I be looking at from both? I've been on AMD's site and they've got an average of up to 10bhp increase. Anyone had one done? If so what's the results like?
  2. My name is Ross and I support Charlton Athletic, so had it as my username on a CHarlton forum years ago and just carried it with me.
  3. Might as well put one up. Me on the left. And another
  4. When I've got a chance I'm gonna try and find another coin holder and attack the plastic at the back, allowing me to get the wire in the back of it. Until then I've gotta suffer
  5. Cheers. It's the 9850r. I wanted to feed the iPod wire into the back of the coin holder but there's no room to do so. The wire is really long too. I phoned up Alpine earlier to see if they make a shorter one but they don't, so just gonna have to leave it all bunched up in the cubby hole for now. Thanks for the other comments too. Penry - yep, going to get some at the weekend. Giving it a massive detail if the weather's alright so it's ready for the winter. Wheels are down to two options now, especially seeing as the TH Mono's are now in stock in Rimstyle....
  6. Well I made a start on making the car my own today. I have an iPod headunit and most of the time I can't be bothered to take the iPod out of my car (stupid I know!). In my Clio I fed the iPod wire into the glove box and left it in there. However there is obviously no glove box in the Lupo. I bought a coin tray holder off Matty_GTi to keep the iPod in when I haven't got it wired up to the headunit. However the holder is slightly too small lengthways for my mahoosive iPod (compared to the new Nano's anyway!). Therefore some modification was required. After heating up the knife I set to work on the plastic at the back of the holder to make 2 cuts. Cuts done. Then I got the bottom of the back cut, allowing me to remove the section. Needs a bit of a tidy but that will happen soon enough. Nice and snug fit! I then had to take the original unit out, removing the cup holder. After a bit of deliberation with the tabs I had it free. A minute later the now modified coin holder was in, complete with cup holder fascia to keep with the OEM look. Nothing that exciting, but means I don't have to faff around with CD's!
  7. Cheers for the replies. Casper - my Clio was slammed and turned like anything. However, like you say, once I'm used to the Loop it'll be brilliant. Only had it since Saturday!
  8. Well I've been on these forums since May, but I've only just got my Lupo. It's Penry's old GTi (thanks Andrew!). For those who don't know it's got 48k, leather (soon to be heated), 6 speed box and FK Silverline coilovers. Going from a 1.2 Clio to a 1.6 is a lot of difference, even though they both handle almost the same - extremely well. Although the Lupo just egdes it. Plus the build quality is there obviously. Here's some pics of it after it's first wash. Standard tape head unit for the gay! Much better. Got a few plans but gonna keep them on the low key atm, and they all depend on money of course!
  9. Look spot on actually. Cheers for all the pics! Incase you were wondering these are what I'm after... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mercedes-E-Class-Ava...A1%7C240%3A1318
  10. I'm after some Merc wheels for my (soon to be) Lupo. However they're 16's. Anyone got any pics of their GTi's on 16's?
  11. Could indeed be this. I had the same problem on my Clio, but only on one wheel although all the bolts were the same length. One go with a hacksaw later to take off a mm and it was fine.
  12. Ah, sorry, not that conversion where the dock is put in place. I mean where the drinks holder is removed so the tray is empty.....
  13. Remember seeing in someone's build thread how they modified one of their drinks holders into a coin tray holder, mainly to put their iPod in. Does anyone know who it is/what is involved in doing this?
  14. Sounds mental. With the weight of the car this'll be putting out a lot of bhp/ton
  15. Get the coilovers on it Ross mate! Looking good....
  16. That is in absolutely mint condition!
  17. After much to-ing and fro-ing I've finally decided to go for a Lupo GTi over an Ibiza and I'm currently looking for one. I want to spend no more than £5-£5.5k max. I've found a couple for around this price immaculately with around 42k (don't want above 50k really). Is this a viable price for what I'm looking for? And would I be looking forever to find one around this price with leather?

    Newbie

Hi there. Just got the newest Performance VW and loved the feature on the Lupos so thought i'd join to have a look around. I'm definitely going VW or Seat for my next car (currently I drive a Clio) and been looking at Lupos for a while now. Just wondering what the GTis are like performance wise, and what handling and insurance/running costs are like? Cheers!
