  1. I went out at the weekend with my friend and she sat in the back of my car with her daughter. She had to get out as my seats were wet through. This was only picked up then as no one uses the back as I only drive the car. I have taken my seats out to dry but the backs are not wet. My brother had a check for me and said that he could feel damp in the following places

    Both rear footwells

    Carpet wet in boot

Left hand wall side of the boot

There are no pools of water anywear just carpet wet/damp.

Has anyone got any ideas were I could start to look, I have not got a sunroof so it is not that

    It is a 2001 1.0l model

All help would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

iv just had this problem, although my seats werent wet the rear carpets were sodden. it turned out to be the hose to the rear wiper. the lad i bought the car off has taken the wiper off but not disconnected the water supply.

the water was leaking underneath the plastic trim onto my carpets. d'oh

  2. You could check for any rust under the body or any place damp might be getting in from, perhaps dodgy door seals? Spray a hose over your car and see if you can see water dripping into it anywhere.

its not a common thing them? my fella seems to thing it might be getting in under the wheel arch. its bugging me now, had loads of problems with the car :angry2:

  3. Ahh thatll be the red one with leather ? Thought it was abit cheap.

TBH mate, loads of cars are slightly damage repaired and not registered as such. So long as it's straight, wasn't written off and been repaired properly it doesnt matter. 1 in 3 cars have a hidden history, all you can do is your best to scrutinize everything to reduce your risk.

Youll need to get intouch with a good auto electrician to find the problem, just sounds asif there may be a loose connection somewhere. But it could be a damaged electronics component or some dodgy wiring.

THATS THE ONE. YEAH TOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE WIRING, IT HAD SOME WORK DONE WHEN I GOT IT AND HASNT REALLY BEEN RIGHT SINCE. THE STEREO IS A REAL BODGE JOB, WIRED IN TO LIGHTING! AFTER CLOSE INSPECTION LAST NIGHT IT SEEMS IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED, LOOKS LIKE A NEW BONNET AND SOME DODGY PAINT JOBS ON A FEW PANNELS. BATTERY SEEMS TO GET REALLY HOT REALLY QUICKLY TOO WHICH IS WORRYING, I DONT REALLY WANT TO GO UP IN FLAMES.

  4. I've had my lupo gti for 2 months and have had so much trouble with it. its had a new battery, alternator and starter motor. about 5 weeks ago i was driving and the dash lights went out completely. then my air bag light came on followed by pretty much all the others. my headlights then started flashing before turning themselves off completely. the car died soon after.

we changed the battery and things were fine for a week or two until it happened again. on tues night i started the car up to clear the inside screen which had quite a bit of moisture on it, the dash lights kept turning off but when i turned the fan on, there was a click under the bonnet, then the dash lights came back on, and stayed on until i turned the fan off. does anyone have any ideas what this could be? i bought the car off 'bigdave' he was a member on here. does anyone know if he had any problems with it? the bloke at the garage seems to think its a damage - repaired.

  5. oh no, i was driving to shrewsbury and strange things were happening to my car! my stereo was switching randomly on and off, every time i put my brakes on all the dash lights went off, at one point my headlights went off too, right in the middle of town. then they started flasing on and off, my airbag and ecu light went crazy flashing and something was beeping at me!

it turned out my battery was going flat, in all my previous cars if the battery was flat, it just wouldnt start! has anyone else had this experience? i ended up having to try and bump start the car, which it wasnt having any of. so we pushed the car into the local pub and left it there, how heavy is a bloody lupo?! :o

hopefully my car will still be there by the time i finish work and we can put a spanking new battery in it!

  6. im in the wagon most friday and saturday nites tbh!! lol

i work in the town centre on st marys street. but very rairly drive to work to be honest. normally get a lift. so its only used for pleasure use really. im normally driving about the town somewhere. so do you work in town aswell??

i saw your car parked tonight as i was driving down mount pleasant road. it was lookin nice.

i paid 15 a wheel @ mates rates. the paintwork is not perfect but i can solve that myself. it was the prep work that mattered the most.

mine are costing 15 a wheel too. was in hospital all day yesterday but drove past you last night, first time iv seen it on the road! i work at gobowen hospital, a fair trek to work every day! might see you tonight!

  7. ur spraying the monos???

changed my mind lol bought an audi a3 20v turbo lol :shades:

oh and i was wondering if you've managed to send the log book off yet? holding off sending mine for the saxo until i get yours so i can go to dvla and swap plates over there.

  8. cool! glad you like mine. mad that you live so close although havent seen it parked down mount pleasant road. im normally walking down to the steam wagon fairly often

i got the wheels re done at the weekend in a slightly lighter grey they look wicked. its a nice change. had them professionally done this time so the job is top notch

ive not seen the one from ellesmere? is it standard or modified?

what are you doing with the monos? are you selling? ill be very interested if you are?

how much did they cost? my fellas mate is a crap hot sprayer and cheap too, he lives not far from you. it looks pretty standard, maybe a little lowered.

the monos are going away for winter but will be back on the car next year soz!

he only lives a few doors up from the steam wagon, think we'll be in there on friday for a few!

so do you work locally, weird that iv never seen yours on the road, only seen that one in ellesmere once.

  9. ur spraying the monos???

changed my mind lol bought an audi a3 20v turbo lol :shades:

no the others! not that daft. i love them wheels now, took a while to get used to them! nice, i fancy an audi but dont think i could insure one!

  10. the amp was wired direct to the battery...in the boot... the starter was brand new it was the other way round the manifold was veryclose to the starter (as anyone will tell you theyre actually polo gti manifolds so have to be bent slightly to fit the lupo) so might have looked like the starter was bent but i cant see it, batter was fine also was only 6months (ish) old!!!

well whatevr was causing the problem is fixed now and its running well! wheels are being sprayed this week and the cars going in for a full respray next spring. have you got your golf yet?

  11. well ill try and flash you next time!!

ive had mine for about 15 months now. still love it

    where abouts you from?

west felton but practicaly live with my boyf on mount pleasant road. still not seen yours on the road, made a point of walking the dog past your house to have a look. i love the black wheels i got some standard ones that are being sprayed this week to go on it. have you seen the other silver one round ellesmere? will keep an eye out for you :shades:

  12. Hi

    Is it a red GTi?

yeah, it goes well but just spent 700 getting little things sorted on it. the amp had been wired straight to the fuse box and had melted a few wires, the starter motor was bent and touching the exhaust, and battery was about to go up in flames! not good

  13. yours isnt much nicer now is it!!

i saw you the other day on the heathgates roundabout!! the car looked good!!

lupo gti's are pretty rare around the shire arnt they

ha ha, was only joking.my boyfriends been trying to flash you for a few weeks so i could have a look, never really seen a lupo gti until i got to scotland. seen yours a few times now, how long have you had it?

  14. hi, my names katie and im 22 from shropshire. just bought my first lupo two weeks ago after lots of pursuation from my boyf, think the lad who i bought it off used to be a member on this site, bigdave i think he called himself. the car has just cost me over £700 to have a few problems sorted on it. grrr! only two other gti's in my area, but mine is much nicer
