Any ideas how much a new pedal box is these days??

A mate of mine is gonna take out the box and weld it up, hope it will be strong enough, if that don't work then a trip to the vw parts shop me thinks.

My pedal box has just gone today, gears were difficult to change for weeks, my car is a 2002 model with 140000 on the clock.
