  1. Cup spec looks to be 295mm discs with ATE 4 Pot calipers, I believe they ran slicks.
  2. Seems unlikely that it will work in that way, you're assuming that the gti dash display is identical to the TDI one which is not likely. If you have warning lights then they are on because a signal from the ECU tells them to be on, it seems to me that the diesel and GTi ECU's are not identical either. The best case is that all the signals from the ECUs are the same just not on the same output pins in which case a cross over adapter fron the cars wiring to the dash will enable it to work. Easy way forward is to check the pin outs on both ECU's pin out's should be on-line or in ElasWin
  3. Totally agree with Skezza / Dblock, indiction noise comes from air through the throttle valve, Diesels don't have one so you won't get the same noise. Diesels have a safety flap to shut off the air if the engine runs away for example turbo seal failure as happened to my friends landrover it only stopped after iit had burned most of it's engine oil as fuel.
  4. The problem with thinner oils is you dont get enough oil pressure, the bearings, clearences and oil pump are designed for a specific oil pressure and flow from the pump, changing the oil is cheap compared to shortening the engines life. I used a really thin oil in one of my cars and had all sorts of noises from the engine, swapped the oil for the corrrect grade and all was back to normal
  5. Logic is wrong, it can't be completely closed or no air would be able to get in.
  6. Nothing to do with Gearbox oil, it's an access for a VW special tool, can't remember what it's used for.
  7. A common place for corrosion is the connector where the main battery cable from the boot comes into the engine bay. a simple test is to check the cranking voltage at both battery and starter ends.
  8. Anyone have a left front GTI uoright for sale?
