  1. So, Thought I'd have a look at this again last thursday. Turns out there's a really easy way to open it. Not the best picture but the shiney bit in the middle is a little lever. If you get a screwdriver under it and lift the door opens. I needed to replace the bowden cable from interior handle to lock mechanism too but now good as new. I have taken photos as I was doing it so I might do a how to on it too if I get 5 minutes.
  2. Thats my plan. It just hasnt happened since it did it 2 weeks ago or whenever it was
  3. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It started working that one time but now will not budge. No matter what persuasion I give it, its not happening. Going to take a sledgehammer to it soon!!
  4. Awesome. I'll get one ordered. I don't think I'd get away with removing the lock round my way, I'd end up with a burnt out car. Thanks again for your help. It's muchly appreciated.
  5. So this morning its packed up again. Bloody thing. Am I right in thinking its one of these? Thanks for your help.
  6. So I went to the car earlier to try again, nothing worked. Went out this evening and it decided to open. Now it opens on the first pull of the handle. Really weird.
  7. It is the right one I'm looking at then. It was working without any issues this morning. I was in and out the car sorting the wiring to the towbar out, popped inside, came back out and now cannot get the door open. Literally happened within minutes. The one that goes to the interior handle is the one that is frayed. Think might have to get a second person to 'manipulate' the door handle whilst i try and adjust the tension of the little one.
  8. Cheers for your advise. I have just tried the beat the living hell out of the door handle and apart from some really weird looks from my neighbours im not having much luck. When you say the lock mech bowden cable is that the small one that goes between the handle and the lock mech itself as apposed to the one that goes to the interior handle?
  9. Hi All. Didn't know which section to put this in so if its in the wrong one can you please move it to the correct one. So, basically I've been using my car all morning with no issues, just gone out to it and both the interior & exterior drivers door handle are no longer working. The door lock does seem to be working as I can see the indicator pin moving and I can hear it activating. I have took the door card off and have noticed the cable to the interior handle has frayed but not snapped but I cannot see any other issues. I have tried moving the lock pull from inside the door but that doesn't work either. Any ideas on how to release the door so I can have a better look? and any ideas on how to fix it? I did have a search on here but can only find issues with spinning door locks. Thanks Dan
  10. OK so... I've done a fair few miles and just filled up. Used 23.05 litres of fuel over 266 miles. According to an online calculator it works out to 52 mpg. That's on a run from Wrexham to Leicester, a bit around Leicester town then Leicester to stoke and back. Mainly at motorway speeds. Seems a bit low to me.
  11. Yeah went to hellfrauds and it was something daft like 65 quid for 5 litres.
  12. Thanks both for the advise. Was down to just under 1\4 of a tank but filled the car yesterday and only took 22 Quid's worth of diesel. I'll Get used to it at some point. Found some oil too. Wow its expensive just before Christmas. Lol.
  13. Evening all. I have tried to search for the answers but the search keeps coming up empty (dunno if the search bar or my head is having an off day but thought i'd ask instead). 2 weeks ago I bought a 1.4 TDI and have a few questions to ask. -I know its been done to death but I filled the tank (or at least until it kept clicking) £32 from the light coming on. My fuel gauge is now just under 1/4 of a tank and I've done 205 miles. Does this sound a little low to you? I don't drive it stupidly. It goes to work about 8 miles away, all on 50 or 70 mph roads. I've read on here somewhere that the EGR valve can get clogged up and cause poor economy? Would it be worth cleaning it out? -Secondly I've just checked the oil and I need some. Didn't get a manual with the car so wondering which oil to use? -Also should I feel the turbo kick in? I know its not a massive one but would have thought I'd still feel something? Cheers for any help and again sorry about asking what I guess are very common questions. Dan
  14. Morning All. After weeks of looking around here and scouring eBay & AutoTrader I have finally managed to get a Lupo TDI. Needs a few bits doing to it but as my polo decided it wasn't in the mood to drive anymore I had to buy it. Will post pictures once I've cleaned it (motorways are filthy). Cheers Dan
