If you are going to the bother of pistons you will also need rods. The only person who does off the shelf stuff for AVY engine is this guy in Norway Rosten Performance he does both - and knows his stuff. Shame the pound is so deflated against the Euro. Schrick do entire cam kits with springs, valves, retainers.

Have you read the Lupo GTI Super 1600 ITB (264bhp) thread?

Engine management is a big chunk of money, you need to look into what each system offers - my current favourite is EMU Black as you get a lot more features at a lower price point than similar management and it does fly by wire throttle -something you dont see on any cheaper management.

Thanks for the reply that build is to die for, I got quoted 4000£ for probably in increase of about 50bhp max on the engine with the engine mods discussed, can itb be ran on standard engine with the correct mods to make them fit with mapping ?

Hi guys, I want to advertise some Carbon Fibre parts I've done for VW Lupo's and Seat Arosa's but I can't seem to work out how to add images so if you are interested in getting a quote, email me at miles.ratcliffe@gmail.com or drop me a pm and ill send you examples of parts I have previously done as well as your quote.

    Thanks

I'm planning to do this on my Gti when I can get a donor wheel to send away to http://royalsteeringwheels.com/vw/  They have quoted me as follows:

Full modification (Thicker, Thumb grips added + Flat bottom), Smooth leather all around, Red stitching

The price would be 205GBP + 9.99Postage (Parcelforce next day recorded) and we would need 1-2 weeks to do so.

Worth it I think because the look/feel of the wheel is a big part of the driving experience and there are too many complications in swopping for something like a Momo because of the air bag considerations.  The standard wheel in the Gti looks OK but is very skinny.

Amazing thanks bud can they not supply the wheel aswell of do you have to supply !!

The previous owner did the cams, inlet and exhaust himself - then took it to be re-mapped. If you stick with normal aspirated you will need aftermarket engine management - you have to work backwards working out who you want to map your car and what ECU's they work with.

My Cams are fast road, they are not lumpy, it revs like a normal engine till 6k and than goes nuts

Okay mate thankyou I’ve messaged tsr about a build like this hoping they can help !, as the moneys sat there waiting, looking at cams flywheel pistons and itb !

5k for 1.8t sounds steep, donor Golf can be had for £500, but you are paying people to do the work. At least with 1.8t you can use the donor ECU and remap - if you go bodies you need aftermarket ECU - at the very least thats £400 for a basic set up + loom.

Lots of VW specialists out there, TSR are in Bridgwater Somerset - not too far a stretch from Dorset they have a long history or breathing on VW's give them a call.

If you really have your heart set on forced induction and want the best quality, suspect you need V deep pockets - Retropower in Licestershire. Currently building a Mk1 ford Escort for Gordon Murray - highly recommend the You tube films

Thankyou for the reply guys !, I have spoken to a couple of people and tsr seem the way to go I’m probably going to go with a rebuild forged internals fly wheel all the standard stuff and itb got a 2-3k budget for tuning !, seen a guy had one for sale with that build said above, at 175!Bhp

  6. Thanks guys tar do conversions for 5k for the 1.8t engine I’ve spoken to a company locally whogot my hopes up about. Doing work now it seems I’ve heard that they have done poor work quality on previous cars, he suggested doing a throttle bodied and lumpy cam engine does anyone know of any companies in the uk that would be helpful with this type of engine work for vws

  7. Hey guys

can anyone help me with direction to who can do (turbo or supercharged builds ) in the uk for the 1.6 gti Lupo or a carb set up ! Or any kits that people know of for bolt on set up thanks ! I’ve rang around and can’t seem to find where people are having their work done !! For reference I live down south in Dorset, o
