  1. I saw Nick Frost on saturday Kitchen. He looked a pissed off when James Martin told him he didn't get the jokes.

The funniest thing about his appearance on Saturday Kitchen is that his food hell wasn't food hell at all! He actually loves quail!

  2. Only just seen your reply Al, no, just 2010 I'm afraid - they've already been designed & squished to fit and I don't really want to mess the printer around any more than I already have.

If you want one, PM me your address by Wednesday please - will be giving them the final go-ahead on Thursday.

Stickers Requested - This is just a reminder for me!

    - Bluloop (Best GTI 2010)

    - chrisc (Best Arosa 2010 - Joint winner)

    - LittleGreenGiant (Shed of the year 2010)

    - treblet (Worst Moderator 2010)

    - Mitch (Best non-GTI & Best Interior 2010)

    - Emz (Best Arosa 2010 - Joint winner)

  3. Mine is showing as 345

    Being:

    Burglary - 23

    ASB - 184

    Robbery - 3

    Vehicle crime - 10

    Violent crime - 38

    Other crime - 87

However, my house unfortunately falls within the 2 mile radius of the biggest council estate in the area, which is full of absolute pikey scumbags. My Mum & Dad's postcode (only the last letter of which is different to mine) is showing only 89 as their postcode misses the council estate!

  4. IMPORTANT:

If you want a sticker with your award on it to display proudly in your car and haven't yet sent me your name & address, you have until next Wednesday (3rd Feb) to let me know if you want one.

The people who I have already had names & addresses for are:

    - Bluloop (Best GTI 2010)

    - chrisc (Best Arosa 2010 - Joint winner)

    - LittleGreenGiant (Shed of the year 2010)

    - treblet (Worst Moderator 2010)

  5. We closed the thread because we didn't like the idea of being asked to be involved with the raffle, or that people might think that we were in some way affiliated with it. To be perfectly frank, I very much doubt there are many (if any) forums who would be willing to get involved in such a raffle and I can't see how such a raffle would be possible without the support of the forum it's on.

Sorry if you think we've been unfair by closing your thread, but decided to close it as we didn't think there was any point taking the discussion any further.

Please bear in mind that the decisions of CL Mods & Admins are final, as stated in the terms & conditions of the forum and we'd appreciate it in future if you didn't question our decisions.

    :)

  6. None of this has been planned maintenance or down time, trust me. It went down the first time because the hosting company took us down for exceeding bandwith. Matt then got us up & running as soon as he could, having had to transfer everything across to a new server with the hosting company.

The SQL errors were just a teething problem so we thought, until it went down yesterday without warning. The first we knew about it was when myself, Ray & Jamie all got the SQL error when trying to get on here - I notified Matt of the problem and he has spent the best part of 24 hours trying to fix it.

The only reason I know where we're at now is because Matt posted up in the mods forum, after he was able to fix it. For the last few days, we've all been in the same boat as you.

  7. Just to reiterate, we (ie the moderating & administration team) have discussed this and agreed that this is something that we would not want to be involved in. There's too much potential for comeback on the forum (eg if something mechanical were to break on the raffle prize shortly after the draw, trying to pass the blame on CL), or for people trying to make this a regular thing (eg "you did it for him, why not for me?").

There's also restrictions as to what we (as a forum) are allowed to do that are imposed on us by the hosting company and we wouldn't want to jeopardise the forum by breaking their rules. We've had enough problems with hosting recently that we don't want to risk getting kicked off this server and end up having to upgrade yet again to something even more expensive.

Similarly, there are also gaming laws & regulations which apply to raffles and the like, as well as there being no way that we could absolutely 100% demonstrate that any raffle draw has been done absolutely fairly even when it has - there will always be people who are cynical and look for problems and unfortunately, this is exactly the sort of thing that would bring those types of people out of the woodwork, as it were.

Also, should there be a lack of interest (eg although 30+ people have expressed an interest, only 10-15 part with their cash), we could end up in the situation where people buy raffle tickets in good faith, only to have the raffle cancelled and their money refunded - which would no doubt end with people claiming it was a scam or whatever.

However, should the opening poster find somewhere else that is willing to deal with the administration of such a raffle, we have no objections to you advertising the raffle being hosted elsewhere on here.

Please also don't just assume that we'd be willing to get involved to run something like this, please consider asking us first!

  8. When we moved servers, one of the database tables got a bit screwed up in the transfer. MattyB (the technological wizard that he is) is on the case.

You're just going to have to put up with it potentially being a bit temperamental while Matt tries to sort it all out I'm afraid, although for now it seems to be fixed. (*crosses fingers*)
