  1. Female - Yes Scottish - Yes Hot - No, I'm bloody freezing!
  2. Thank you both. Gonna get my mechanic friend to look it over next weekend.
  3. Didn't know there was such a thing! Don't you think the head gasket is likely to be causing the oil and water to mix?
  4. Hi All, Fred passed his MOT today! No work needing done, so guess I better start on the advisories. Firstly Near and offside break hoses slightly deteriorated. Near and offside break hoses have slight corrosion to ferrules. I was gonna order these, but thought best check here first: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-POLO-LUPO-1-0L-1-3-1-4-1-6-GTI-FRONT-BRAKE-HOSE-1995-TO-2001-C894-/220988738164?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW|Model%3ALupo|Cars+Year%3A2000|Plat_Gen%3A6X1%2C+6E1|Cars+Type%3A1.0&hash=item3373f48a74 Second thing was the rear tyre walls perishing - easy done. Another thing needing done real soon is replacing the head gasket. I'm presuming this might be the issue cauing the water and oil to mix. Really unsure what kit to buy, help here is appreciated. Also, I read that the bolts should be replaced also but these don't seem to come with the kits. What bolts are these?? Any links or advice much appreciated. As cheap as possible of course! Thanks in advance. Lupo 1.0 SE petrol 2000
  5. I've moved it as far as it can go (outward) and same issue. It's really not a huge deal.
  6. Failed again last night to put the assembly together but think I found the issue. The groove that part of the assembly sits in it badly corroded and when I turn the key, it slips out and bits of metal are launched everywhere. My friend is going to put the repair kit to good use on his Skoda. On the plus side - replacement lock arrived today and was really simple to install. Took 2 minutes (I don't have central locking). The door isn't opening every time using the inside or outside handles though. I don't have to force it, but maybe one in every 5 times, the handles just don't do a thing. Odd indeed but far better than what it was like before!
  7. I ordered a new lock last night, wasn't expensive at all. I won't be disassembling the new lock - will be 2 keys for me! I might have another fiddle with the repair kit tonight though, can't do any harm!
  8. So, some advice needed. Persevere with the kit or buy replacement lock? I'm thinking new lock. Don't fancy attempting that again!
  9. The assembly fell apart, I know now what I'd done wrong but I cannot for the life of me get the spring to do what it's supposed to. Giving up for now. My hands are sore and bloody. Also seem to have knackered the plastic external cover for the lock so need to order a new one of those.
  10. Scrap that success story! Went to put it back into the door. Put my key in to lock it, it all fell apart in the door and now after fishing the bits out, I'm back to square one! Will try once more.
  11. I did it!! Well, almost. Still sitting outside soaking in WD40 because it's a little stiff. I don't think it'll last forever so a new lock may be something I have to do in the future. I used these 2 guides. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/63460-how-to-de-lock-the-lupo-with-genuine-vw-parts/ New kit with the bits pulled from lock beside it. Very very corroded!
  12. That'll be the next step if this doesn't work. Not keen on using separate keys though. Kit arrived today. Fiddling with it tonight before taking lock out tomorrow.
  13. Thanks for the help! Don't mind taking a stab at it for that price
  14. Hi! Help appreciated - my drivers door won't unlock from the outside, the key just turns aimlessly in the lock. It does open from the inside though using the handle. Took the door card off and this was lying in there: Now I'm no sherlock but I would suspect there's a connection! Any ideas? Lupo 1.0 SE petrol 2000
  15. I am 26 now and super paranoid about getting in the way or doing anything silly! I tend to just drive around town and not go any real distance! However, had I been able to learn to drive when I was in my teens, I dare say I would have been quite irrisponsible!
  16. No you don't have to but I thought other drivers should be aware I was a new driver.
  17. Local scrappy was quoting me £22 + VAT + postage! I passed in October, those are just old pics! P plates only came off a couple weeks ago though.
  18. I managed to fix this myself, which for me I can assure you is a very big deal! Was hazard light switch/indicator relay. Part cost me £25 new from VW and managed to fit myself with a little help from a post on here about fitting a indicator comfort switch.
  19. Hi all, New to this forum so please excuse me if I'm not doing this right! I have a 2000 Lupo - first car for me and I've had him a year. He's has a few wee issues but most I can live with. Recently, however, his indicators have been playing up. It went from being out of the usual rhythm to hardly coming on at all now unless I wiggle the indicator stick up and down several times. Same issue also occurs when I put the hazard lights on. Any ideas what might be causing this and if it's something I can reasonable and affordably fix myself. My technical knowlege of cars is limited at best but I am handy with a screwdriver! Thanks in advance! My Little Fred!
