  1. We closed the thread because we didn't like the idea of being asked to be involved with the raffle, or that people might think that we were in some way affiliated with it. To be perfectly frank, I very much doubt there are many (if any) forums who would be willing to get involved in such a raffle and I can't see how such a raffle would be possible without the support of the forum it's on.

Sorry if you think we've been unfair by closing your thread, but decided to close it as we didn't think there was any point taking the discussion any further.

Please bear in mind that the decisions of CL Mods & Admins are final, as stated in the terms & conditions of the forum and we'd appreciate it in future if you didn't question our decisions.

    :)

I love it when you talk like that! you lay down the law girl!

  2. Fair enough, but if you could afford a GTi, surely £400 wasn't that much in the scheme of things?

German cars are far from perfect but I've had seven years of trouble-free VAG motoring (three different cars - probably shouldn't have said that as I'll be tempting fate). I'd rather trust German or German-backed engineering and build quality.

Time will tell, but lets see how today's Fiats look in comparison to today's VWs in ten years time.

At 18, what are running costs? you never take things like that into account.

Thats a fair point, my money would always be put on a german car lasting longer than french/italian

  3. the pain is bare able, obviously in tender parts is more painful, but its quite a good pain, if you get what i mean?

go big or go home i say! a friend of mines first tattoo was a full back piece! :P

if you get a small one you'll only want more!

    GO BIG!

fair enough, I think i am going to start looking into this abit more.

  4. I don't like the idea of someone being able to see my car and what I have done to it being able to go on the map and see what street I live down

So for that reason I am on there but not in the exact spot.... just hanging out chilling with a beer in a field in the surrounding area ;)

what do you take us for? we aint this fella. . . . .

  5. looks mint that ben!

tattoos have started appealing to me more and more. Im thinkin about a really in depth sleeve with my sons name on my forearm.

the pain issue has never really bothered me its more the fact i change my mind a lot. But a full sleeve as a first tattoo, is that wise? and what is the pain really like?

  6. People need to stop comparing the Abarth 500 (especially the Esseesse) to a Fiat 500.

They are worlds apart in just about everything bar the shape. If you're ever lucky enough to drive one (or even see an Esseesse) you'll know what i mean. Some of the people that are losing their heads in this thread simply haven't got a clue.

    It's comical, please continue. :coffee:

I will one day own a 500abarth, maybe not the essesse. I just think they are awesome.

  7. At no point have I said that. I know that I don't drive the worlds greatest car. However I do know that it's a boat load better than a Fiat.

yeh of course its boat loads better than A fiat. . . say maybe a Multipla or a uno. Better than a 500 abarth? i dont think so kid.

Okay, so you've been extremely lucky with your Fiats and extremely unlucky with your VW's? Have you taken the ages of these cars into consideration? As I know your GTi was a 2001 model(from your username) and your panda is what...2007?

but if they are so bullet proof then why would age matter? my sporting cinq was a 96 P reg, and I floored it for over 20miles doin over a ton watchin the temp fly through the roof coz id boiled all the coolant. guess what, a bit more water init and it was right.

I would rather have a 15 year old VW than a 15 year old Fiat, wouldn't you? Why? Because one will last A LOT longer than the other and you know it. How many Fiat Uno's do you see around nowadays?

if you see old Vw's they tend to be the classics, and yeh they are still sh*t hot theres no doubt about that.

Personal preference, and in my personal preference, I'd rather have a VW than a Fiat, just like most people that are into their cars.

I said that I didn't want a Fiat debate, because it will only upset people. But please stop harping on that Fiat is better than VW, because it makes you look stupid-especially on a VW forum!

at no point have I said fiat are better than VW you moron!

Stop being a small-minded idiot. You're posting on a VW-based forum. If you want to harp on about your Fiat, then go here instead.

and the good thing about this forum, is that most people dont have VW blinkers on and will openly admit that VW's just arnt as good as what people make out.

  8. OMG take your 'my Gti is the greatest car in the world blinkers' off

Ive owned two fiats and two VW's.... the vw's have cost me far more in repairs and maintenance. and im pretty sure there are plenty of people that will back me up on my above claims.

and theres no doubt that I loved my Lupo Gti, but would I change it for my panda? might sound mad, but no I wouldnt.

  9. Okay then. Seeing as you think so, it must be a fact.

Everybody with a Gti thinks so, the suspension feels like its made of jelly.

    £400 + :o:lol: - you're 'avin' a giraffe surely? That's peanuts.

What's bad about a Fiat? They're **** basically. NEVER trust Italian engineering - my Ferroli boiler's giving me enough grief as it is without considering one of their motors. The only other piece of Italian equipment I have bought, an Indesit washing machine, was a disaster as well.

Its not peanuts at the age of 18.

French/italian cars arnt as bad as what people make out and German cars arnt quite as good as what people make out.

  10. Only bad thing that I can think of is the badge really. They look fantastic, and go like the clappers!

And whats bad about a fiat? all I can say is that ive had my panda 2yrs and other than the fact I have to change a shocker nothin has gone wrong with it.

Ive had two Vw's which have resulted in serious problems costings 400+

  11. Yup, but it's quite a bit taller, and whilst I've not driven one I don't know how much confidence inspiring they are for a driver.

They might handle better than a Lupo, I don't know, I'd have to drive one to make that comparison as 0-60 time means quite little until you've driven the car.

might handle better? a bloody ford model T handles better than a stock Gti.

All I can say is that I want a 500 abarth soooo bloody much. Im waitin till they hit around the 10k mark tho.
