My Lupo GTi 2001, 120k miles been having probs with it going into 3rd for a few months. Goes in position but makes horrible noise, so avoided using it. (Use car everyday for work 100 mile round trip). Now it has just started to do the same with 4th gear. So need to have a look this weekend at what can be the causes. Or is the box on its way out? Best place to get it rebuilt properly? Or anyone have a good used one? What costs are we talking? appreciate any advice thanks Charlie

Thanks Lupogtiboy, yes that's what I did. Nice easy job all except getting the 2x carrier bolts undone. Had to borrow some muscle for that. No more wheel shake when braking . Will see how this brand lasts.

Thanks went for the JURID discs and pads from GSF with 25% discount. Ordered before returning to the thread. Will just make sure I bed them in gently. The front discs fitted by previous owner were Eicher, they have warped badly. Just a quick question on fitting the new discs and pads. If I have to wind in the caliper piston for pads should the bleed nipple be released? and if so do I have to bleed the brakes afterwards ? or is it not necessary?

Front discs have warped on my GTi : ( Not much fun braking at speed. Can anyone recommend what brand/part no. to go for (nothing too flash) Just reasonable quality. thanks

I have been making these screen covers for vw buses. Thought I may make one for my Lupo Gti. Save spending 10 mins every morning scraping the ice off in the winter. Would Lupo owners be interested. My 2001 Lupo GTi in Moon Silver. Just added some presents from Wolfsburg VW dealership after a trip to Germany. Genuine number plate surrounds and Wolfsburg Wolf decals. New plates to be added soon, and a few other subtle changes. Sorry nothing too exciting.

Ok I don't have a manual, so stupid question time (looking for an original manual pack, so if u have one for 2001 model please contact me). Whilst checking wiring etc for a tailgate fault I noticed a button in the passenger footwell on the side pocket. Can anyone tell me What the button is for please? Looks alarm related thanks

Checked all wiring and connections visually and there is no damage. All fuses are good I will try and find our multimeter and test. ?? so tailgate not unlocking remotely and rear wiper not working ?? Are there any wiring diagrames online? thanks

The tailgate central brake light works. I guess I will have to take panels off and check all connections.

The tailgate is not openeing on the drivers door switch as it used to up until a week ago. Also the rear wiper has stopped working. Anyone know if this could be down to a fuse? If so which one do I need to check. Many thanks

No that was just supplied. Only 1 rear spring in the UK and they would have to get another sent from Germany. (strange that they would not stock a pair in UK ). I thought the price was for a pair, but then he said no thats each. There seem to be non genuine for much less. Maybe I will go with the Eibach as I know they r quality (have them on the T5) just depends on where the ride height ends up. A touch lowerer would be good, but I don't want it to sit any higher. Anyone fitted them to a GTi ? Was there a change in the ride height?

Some rust/paint bubbling starting on mine. Went into dealer today to get the bodyshop to quote me for repairs and roof repaint. Waiting to hear what the damage might be.

Genuine from VW the rears are 120 each . Didn't ask the cost of fronts. Can they be bought anywhere else for less. Or what others are on the market? What are others using on their standard GTi's? Or maybe go a touch lower (not coilovers). thanks

I noticed after a drive when walking round the front of car that the bonnet had popped open/released and was being held down by the safety catch. What would cause this and what should I be looking at to make it stay shut? Bit worrying ! The catch is clean, I also sprayed some plus gas on the mech. Anyone else had this problem? thanks
