Just an update on this, i found a guy who checked it for me, a small wire-thingy was broken, he fixed it for 10 bucks, all good now:)

I followed these instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8if3T1v8x4. Tried to connect directly to the connector on the radio and also through the harness.

Thanks, tried it, still no power at all, i even tried to turn on with the remote, doesn't work. Checked with a multimeter, power goes through the connectors so not sure whats wrong. Here is an image from the inside, maybe someone will notice something i don't: http://cl.ly/image/1b3D3b1u1v1u

I dissasambled it, everything looks fine as far as i can tell, so no idea whats wrong yet. If i try to hook up the red and yellow wire to a regular 12v adaptor, can i test it to see if theres power inside? Or i need to connect all of the wires too to test the device?

Sadly its not the fuse. One of the screw in the back was very loose though, so i will take it apart just to make sure that every component is in place inside, maybe the vibration caused some trouble.

Just a quick update, after 8 months of good use, today my head unit died suddenly... Once i get home i'll check the fuse, maybe i'm lucky and it just simply blown.

Well, not in my case, because i have some little pins and hinges on the unit and i don't want to touch those. So i gone back to the original plan, i cut of the front part of the fl-17-00 and everything looks fine now with the factory frame:)

I just received the FP-17-00, and it does NOT work with the player:) It has a little edge on the inside so i can't push the player in or out. I'm going to cut off the front part if the fp-17-00, and use the frame that they gave me.

On a different interface, i'll post a screenshot tomorrow, it says Console at the top, then a calendar and a clock widget, and 8 icons at the bottom. Looks like the gps home screen to me, so you can't really close the gps app.

Just switched the yellow/red wires, everything works now, thanks:) And i ordered an FP-17-00, thanks for the tip. Any idea how to access the WinCe interface? Tried using the GPS app, but theres no options in the GPS homescreen(i tried this because on my standalone gps, i have a button called Windows or something like that and it takes me to WinCE)

Oh, cool, the red and yellow wires was already changed with the old unit, but i though i should look for the colour that comes from the car itself, but i guess the previous owner already switched it:) Thanks

Here is a quick overview, sorry about the quality, low light conditions and my ipad 2 has a shitty camera. Also, the sound quality is really good, but somehow my mic didn't picked up a decent sound... One more question: Any idea how to fix the clock? When i turn on the unit, always show 00:00 for some reason.

sadly, theres no knob on the back. But theres a hole in the unit, so maybe i can find a knob or something that fits in the hole, thanks for the tip also, i was able to select the vw logo, the Logo button is a wide button at the very bottom, i just pushed everywhere and i was able to enter the logo selector somehow:D

Finally arrived, everything looks & works just like in the product description. Here is a photo, sorry about the bad quality: The interface looks pretty good, i'll create a video tomorrow. One thing is missing, i can see a Logo option in the settings, but i can't seem to click on it, so looks like this feature is disabled. Already installed in the car, a frame was included, so it fits without a cage, but its kinda loose. Any idea how to make it more stable? Or i should just buy a cage mentioned above(FP-17-00). Btw, it looks awesome in the car, really just like an OEM unit. Gps works fine, Europe map was included with a 4gb micro-sd.

I'll contact the seller first, because they said in the product description, that they can cover a portion or the total amount of the additional costs (see the 5th comment here), so maybe they pay me back or they can give me a "coupon" with the same value:) My best guess it that somehow they missed the shipping from UK(or the item was not in stock) and by the time they realised this, they started running out of time, so they shipped it with DHL directly from the source so it will arrive in time. Sender on the package is "C&F lead creation international holdings limited", but the actual package is coming from "Meybem Trade CO LTD", in Hong Kong. Some interesting business is going on here...

Update: The package was shipped yesterday, from Hong Kong, so they lied, because they said this on ebay: "Thank you for shopping with us. Your item has been sent on 2013-08-05." and "All items are shipped from our agency in Portsmouth,UK.There's no tracking NO provided." I know this, because DHL contacted me to pay some taxes and VAT, and they give me a tracking number: So far, not the best experience I've had on eBay:D Now we'll see how much extra i need to pay...

Exactly, i'm not worried about the product itself, i'll get what i paid for:) I really hope that i can access the regular Win CE 6.0 interface, so i can change the design a little, because probably it will have these usual ugly icons, and i try to make it to look like an OEM player:)

Looks like its coming from china anyway, based on a couple of reviews and also note the little red text at the top of the description: This is fine though, i receive stuff regularly from dx.com. I tried to use the reverse image search to find more info about the unit without any luck sadly. Runs on Wince which is a pretty usual system for these, you can find this on GPS systems and so on, so i think the software is not really a problem here.
