Latest little mod, DIY engine mount. The standard engine mount is oil filled and there is no aftermarket solution out there. I noticed mine felt a bit sloppy at the Ring so I thought iād look into it, I purchased some Poly Resin, the same stuff the use to make engine mounts. Set about splitting the standard one open and draining all the oil out. I opted for the softer resin as I didnāt want it too stiff. But turns out even with the softest resin it is a LOT stiffer than standard! Instantly noticed a lot more vibrations ok start up, iāve done over 200 miles the weekend and itās definitely bedded in a bit and feels much better now. Engine noise inside the cabin has completely changed, sounds better. Gear changes feel even more precise. Overall, really happy with it! Painted the engine mounts and a couple of brackets as well to tidy it up a bit. Iāll leave some pictures below and some more pictures on the new wheels
My new favourite picture iāve taken

RPF1 are about the lightest wheels you can get but the price tag is too silly for a tightwad like me.Ā
They are on the expensive side new, but i got these for a stealĀ š

I prefer them in anthracite. How much weight difference between them and Superleggeras?
Your the first person to say it but i liked them in Grey too, I just think they look better in Silver.

Believe it or not, the Enkeiās are 0.2kg lighter!

Only very occasionally on full lock thats itšš¼

So I got the wheels back from Aerocoat after their fresh refurb, they turned out lovely. Coated them with Gtechniq C5 to keep them nice. Wrapped them in Michelin PS3ās to be my all year round tyre!Ā
Got them on the car yesterday after itās MOT which it passed. Safe to say I am over the moon with how good they look, let me know what you think! Iām still waiting on centre caps too arrive as well.

The same thing happened to me whilst at the Nurburgring of all places! My lever has always been stiff ever since i got the Lupo but i've just got used to it. I'm going to take the mechanism off, clean and regrease to see if that helps. If not, it may be a new cable!

Well I'm back from what can only be described as one of the best trips ever. The weather was perfect! I covered 1273 miles in total, 6 laps of the Ring and the car didn't miss a beat. It continues to amaze me and anyone else that comes in the car. Last year my best BTG was a 9.50 taking it fairly easy as I didn't know the track at all. This year, with the car feeling much more capable than last year I managed to get into the 8's with a 8.49! With a passenger and a couple of hold ups.
I say it to everyone who has never been to the Nurburgring, make it a priority as it is simply the best place in the world for petrol heads! It was extremely busy on the Friday as it was Car Freitag, but Saturday, Sunday and Monday were a bit quieter. Especially if you get to the track first thing.Ā
I thought a few of you would spot me in Shmee's video, it was a very strange moment as I have been watching him for so long. Safe to say the Senna looked even better in person.
I also stopped at Circuit de Reims-Gueux as I was passing through from Paris, would of been rude not to get a few photo's!
I'll leave a few pictures below of the whole trip!
And save the best till last...

Agreed on the Toyo's, any awful tyre, maybe try and swap out while your out there
They really are! Iām taking my OZās with AD08Rās on them with me so will swap them over when iām therešš¼

So, another set of wheels. I have been wanting these for a very long time. Enkei RPF1. They are currently grey but i will be changing them to Silver in the future. They came with new near Toyo T1Rās which I hate but i will run them for a few weeks before they come off. Well happy with how they look though!Ā
Also, i go to the NĆ¼rburgring tomorrow! So iāll update this after the trip!

If you fire them on the in stroke (lean),Ā thenĀ fire again about 20 degrees afterĀ TDC (once ignited), you get a double kick. It was the original concept behind FSI. Lots more torque... The hardest thing to manage is the common rail high pressure fuel pump.Ā
Yeah with a supercharger you can get about 550. Trouble is at high revs you run out of injector time.
Learn something new every day!
Ā
Itās currently turboād at around 400bhp, only around 9psi of boost. Needs a 4ā MAF then the boost can be turned up.

Did you keep the 60V injectors on your R36 conversion?
They are stock injectors, capable of 500bhp we believe.

No real big updates lately,
I fitted some Ferodo DS1.11's a week ago, after using the DS2500's with the standard calipers and always being pleased with them I thought i'd try the next step up and go for the 1.11's. First impressions are really good, even on the road. The initial bite is something i've never felt before in any car. The car weighing only 920kg obviously helps but they really do stop the car well now. I go to the Nurburgring on Easter weekend so only a few weeks away, they will get a proper test there!
Other than that i've just been enjoying the car in the nice weather recently. I'll leave some pictures below.

id recommend a thermostat in your oil cooler system, otherwise it'll take ages to get up to temperature and could cause more harm than good. Mocal do one in their sandwhich plate, or mishimoto do a serpate unit
Looking good though,
What was the reason behind the R32 wishbone bushes over powerflex ones?
Ā
A mate of mine had this and said I could have it, so i thought iād try it without first. The car will only get driven properly once I know the oil is up to temperature.Ā
Ā
The reason for the R32 bushes is purely because they are softer than Powerflex but stiffer than standard. The whole idea with this car is to make it a really good road and decent on the track. So I donāt want it too stiff šš¼

Till they fill with dust, corrode and create lumps in braking.
Been there, done thisĀ
What brand were those? I've had Brembo's and EBC's, never had that issue!
-
Painted the oil cooler Black today as I didnāt like the Silver standing out through the grill. Also painted the crash bar whilst I had the paint out
-
The latest little mod, fitted a 7 row oil cooler Saturday. The car has never struglled with heat but with two NĆ¼rburgring trips coming up in the summer I thought why not, better to be safe than sorry! Iām going to paint it Black as iām not keen on the way it stands out behind the bumper.

Awesome setup you got there, nice little track weapon. I followed it closely and i like what you did, nice build. Keep it like that. On the track it looks like the car is moving really nice, with neutral behavior and very little understeer. How many laps could you squeeze out of the AD08R's until overheating them?
Cheers appreciate the nice wordsšš¼Ā
Ā
The rear anti roll bar really helps with understeer, the car rotates nicely when you need it to as well.
Ā
When i was really pushing them i find around 6-7 laps of Snetterton then you can feel them stary to over heat. I tend to about 5 at a time, seems to be the sweet spot.

Iām not quite sure why they are off a tad, we tried to adjust it some more but thats as close as we could get itš¤·š¼āāļø

Nice. What GoPro mount are you using too that allows it to move slightly? And what geometry have you gone for?Ā
Itās not the mount that does that, itās the Gopro. If you have a Hero 5 or above it has that built in.Ā
Ā
Iāll leave a picture below of the Geometry, it could be more aggresive for track but this is what i find works well for road use as wellšš¼

Looks lovely and tidy! The best mod you'll do for handling is get rid of those Toyo T1R's, they really are a terrible tyre!
