  1. The clutch itself is fine, It's also only covered 20k miles. A mechanic has suggested clutch master cylinder, so I think I'll start there and see what happens.
  2. Yeah I read the sticky about the pedal box but thought that was not an issue on the GTis so I ruled this out. For the record mine's got the 6 speed box. My logic tells me it must be something to do with the release mechanism...as it's almost as if the clutch pedal hits the floor before it disengages the gears.
  3. Morning All, I picked up my Lupo GTi a few days ago and so far have been really pleased with the car...however, this morning driving to work I discovered my first problem... When downshifting gears (when coming up to a junction etc) I couldnt select any gears, I basically had to 'blip' the throttle to get the selector to engage the gears. This doesnt happen on upshifts, only when downshifting. I was able to get to work basically by 'rev-matching' when downshifting. I finally got to the carpark and tried to select reverse, only to find the gears grinding. In the end I gave up and drove in forwards. I think the issue must have gotten worse as the car warmed up as I was able to reverse out of the drive no problem. What do you think this could be? It feels like the clutch isnt properly disengaging when I push it right to the floor. Thanks in Advance.

    Hey...

Morning all, Just a quick post to say hello and introduce myself. I spent last weekend searching for a dreary A3 TDi after rolling my last car a few weeks before. During my search for cars on Autotrader, I threw a wildcard into the mix when I discovered a Lupo GTi for sale only a few miles from me. Having always admired the Lupo GTi, and only ever seeing a few on the road, I thought it only right to take a closer look. I loved the styling of the car and the feel of it...it reminded me much like the sensation I had from driving the 2 Mk2 Golfs I've owned previously. The last owner had obviously cared for it immensely, and before I knew it I had made him an offer! I pick the car up on Wednesday! I hope this forum will provide a wealth of information, I've already discovered the sticky regarding the roof corrosion, so the first thing I intend to do is try and get a warranty claim in. The corrosion isnt bad, just a few bubbles coming through around the gutters. Cheers, Faraz
