  4. Hey guys.. just posted in the new members part and was sent here. i bought a 1.4s lupo about 3 weeks ago and she ran like a dream. such a nice car to drive. then almost a week to the day i bought it, the problems started. i read through the forum for as much advise as possible and im either an idiot or not looking properly Basically as i pull up to a junction slow down and dip the clutch it cuts out. it cuts out almost as soon as it hits 1000RPM. It got worse and worse until i had to restart the car every time i stop. then it wouldnt start straight away. (it used to start on the key) It takes for ever and makes me want to cry as it must be killing the starter motor I cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner.. Nothing took TB off and cleaned it completly as i realised it was completly clogged. Cleaned pipe between TB and EGR valve. Somebody alot more advanced than i am told me that the EGR valve isnt stuck and seems to be wrking fine. they also checked for a spark as they said it only seemed to be running on 2 or 3.. That was fine but i changed plugs, lead, and coil pack anyway. now there was a small pipe coming up from TB that was open when i had it and it ran fine. was also open when it broke. So this guy who helped me blocked it up and said it may help (he believed it should have been blocked) (i trust this guy with most stuff, hes pritty hot on knowledge, been doing VW mechanics for 30 odd years) but i unblocked this pipe after and it now doesnt cut out ?!?! but this pipe is sucking in a lot of air and cuts out if its fully un blocked. It currently had tape over the top with a smaller hole in regulating the airflow. but now the car revs like mad when stopped but doesnt cut out. It still takes a while to start in the morning. ill just add that it has a **** aftermarket sports air filter and apparently the normal air box cnnects a hot and cold feed that helps warm the engine when cold. (it starts with a few throttle pumps when warm straight away) Oh yeah and it drinks fuel like no tomorrow. and has a minor oil leak (not losing it drastically) Yeah i know it looks like i got ripped -.- Im not a mechanic.. i have worked on my vw beetle and have a mild knowledge but they are a lot different aha. Sorry for the long post but this is doing my head in. Thanks in advance.
